It's almost baseball time in the bluegrass. Anyone going to the opening series at Lipscomb? I will be there with a couple other die hards. Hope to see and meet some of y'all! Go Cats!

Heard from a friend who was at the scrimmage that Cleaver threw really well today. 3 innings and gave up no hits with 1 walk. Sat 88-89 with lots of movement.
If the weather is decent I may certainly make at least one game.
We play almost as many games in Nashville (9) as Lexington. 
In his preseason press conference, Mingione mentioned him as one of the players that had really improved from last year (however, topping out at <90 MPH in the SEC has me worried)
I know I sound like Charlie Brown getting ready to kick the ball, but I think the Reds have maybe a 50-50 shot of making the playoffs, have an awfully good set of starters (by Reds standards anyway) and a corps of young players that could all gel more or less at the same time enough to win 85 or 90 games.
I was at the Sunday scrimmage. It seemed to be freshmen day. First base was a puzzle to me. They had Eli Small playing there most of the time. I expected to see a more prototypical player like Hudson Brown. Got to see Montoya smack a mistake pitch out to right center. Tyler Bell and Kyuss Gargett played the short stop position. I got a sense that they expect early production from Bell.
I would guarantee it. Bell will be our shortstop on opening day. It will be a tall order for a true freshman.
The flu has been going through the clubhouse and guys have been in/out of scrimmages. Small's bat is so good coaches are trying to find a defensive spot for him but Koontz is the 1B.
Think it will go down to the wire. My GUESS is Herrera starts there opening day but Hindle is going to have his opportunities early on the claim the every day job.
There are some voices inside the program who think as he develops and plays more baseball he has chance to be a big-time power hitter.
I heard from a friend that was there for two of them, that Pellitire hit 3 absolute missiles for homers.
To those in the know, is there any chance Pelletier ultimately wins the job even if Burkes is ready to go? Devin Burkes is one of my all time favorite Cats and to my 9 year old he might as well be Johnny Bench, but Pelletier has sure looked the part so far and Devo hasn't really looked like himself.
I just can’t imagine that would happen. I do think Pelletier will play and burkes will rest more than in the past.
Simply put, no. There’s a better chance Schwartz wins the No. 2 job than Pelletier supplanting Devo. He will play though.
