That's quite an assumption. Care to explain how that quote by western proves that he thinks black guys shouldn't be coaches? Because that's a wild, outlandish claim.
There is no assumption. If you really need it explained...

Poster insinuated the hiring of Mike Woodson, a former NBA coach and IU alum, and Herbert Davis, a lead UNC assistant and UNC alum, were done so to satisfy “wokeness.” As such, Arizona can continue this trend to hire a black coach as to be “woke”.

The insinuation is that these are charity hires made on the basis on skin color and these guys don’t deserve their positions but to satisfy some political agenda.

This is not 1960. Get your segregated bullshit out of Kentucky

What's your deal, man? What's wrong with saying a comment injecting race probably isn't the best move? You know how that turns out 100% of the time on RRs.
You're all over the place. Pick a defense and stick to it. Right now you're just a spaghetti machine out of control.

You said it was insensitive. How? And in 2021 he should know better. What does that mean and how does it relate to RRs?

I'll even accept your premise and pretend I know what you meant, even though you didn't give western the courtesy of allowing him to explain himself. So here:

Is it true or false that corporations and governments in the last year have distinguished themselves by going out of their collective way to prove how 'woke' they are by caving to BLM demands and other related actions, including hiring black people?

You got a quote showing he said that? You're making a huge leap with your 'insinuated' claim. Seems you're a bit hypersensitive.

Also, what makes you think I live in Kentucky? And what do you mean by 'segregated?' I've never advocated for segregation. The only groups doing that these days are BLM.

I don’t give a shit where you live. This is a Kentucky message board. Be racist and get called out. Has nothing to do with BLM, antifa or wokeness.

This thread deteriorated quickly.
I mean, could ignore stupid the dumb comments and thread probably would’ve done better, but a whole lot of people are thinking it. Someone has to say it. I’m okay being the bad guy.

How am I all over the place? I didn't defend Western, and I didn't think BK calling someone a redneck helped the situation, and called him on it. I thought Western made a bad comment, and BK was being hypocritical.

I think the Woke Police are pressuring hires. I'm all for diversity in all parts of society, but rarely think a person's gender, race, or sexual orientation are qualifications if you're looking for the best person for a job hire (depending on a specific job, obviously).

Cause you're wrong. I'll wait for your example about me defending his comment. I don't know where Western's heart is. I see how it was a stupid comment, but I thought his point was more about the Woke Police and not some much skin color.
If you call someone “woke” you are either racist, homophobic, sexist or probably all the above. Pretty simple really.

This is sad. I used to respect you as a poster. Now that its clear black people standing up for themselves bothers you, I see your true colors. You're a racist who doesn't realize you are one. That's why this world is dangerous. May not think you are, but your words paint a different picture.

Lots of projection going on from you my dude. A lot. Internalized racism is oozing from you but you project it on others. Truly unfortunate to see.

A country so evil you can openly speak out, demean and hold fake "beaded" effigies against the leaders on live TV and not be persecuted.

So evil that you can be any sexual orientation you want without being stoned to death.

So evil that people from all over the world give everything they have to come here in pursuit of a better life. Even tons of European exchange students that fight to stay in America after graduation.

A country that is constantly striving to continue to adapt.

What an ignorant statement.

We are a melting pot and the most diverse country by far. Hundreds of Millions of people from different backgrounds get along every day. You want to see widespread cultural racism, go be different in any predominantly homogenous country.
Yes evil! If you say white men can't jump, its OK. They even made a movie by that name. However if you say blacks are genetically programed to be superior athletics you are called a racist ( Research twitch fibers and spring gauge test ) Both are soft racism and evil!

Exactly. It’s not 1960 anymore so stop your whining.

If you call someone “woke” you are either racist, homophobic, sexist or probably all the above. Pretty simple really.
And yet the very same people who claim to be woke call themselves woke. Yet you think they are not racist. But the people who are not woke but call others woke, are racist? Gotcha.

I don’t know if I’d take it quite that far, but people who say “woke” are generally:

Politically conservative
White
Male
Over 40
Not a fan of a changing society

I won’t label them all as racists or bigots. Just people yearning for a different time that’s long gone and never coming back.

They hired a beloved former player with 9 years of experience on Roy’s staff who happens to be black. Carolina doesn’t make outside hires.

I think some of you are looking to feel persecuted on behalf of ... checks notes ... white basketball coaches. More than 70 percent of D1 men’s basketball coaches are white. Nearly 80 percent of men’s D1 basketball players are black. I fail to see the issue.
There were white guys from carolina that do have head coaching experience, that were more qualified than the guy they hired, and they didn't hire them. Facts are facts. Don't matter to me, the worst coach that they could hire, would be great. I hope carolina never wins another game, except every time they play duke.

No, you can't ignore stupid and dumb comments. You must add your own stupid and dumb comments. This whole thread is stupid and dumb comments. Including mine. People just don't see the truth. Charles Barkley nailed it the other day.

Well, knowing the political environment on campuses and the opportunity for better hires, it certainly seems suspect. IUusedtobe hires a 63 year old with ZERO college coaching experience or recruiting experience and UNCheats hires a very likable guy who is in the family but they could have had Wes Miller who is also from inside the family and he actually has successful head coaching experience. If you think skin color had zero to do with the decision, you're being naive.

Personally I'm happy with both hires. Odds are they will both be dumpster fires

Kansas? Prove they cheated.

Now you'll come back with the idiot "OJ Defense" of "That doesn't prove anything." You are only deluding yourself with your halfwit word games.

Even Arizona thought of keeping him. Winning is winning I guess.

'Sources told ESPN that Arizona had been considering a contract extension for Miller but that the board of regents would not approve it because of the ongoing NCAA issues.' - ESPN

I could see Pitino at AZ. Not predicting it, just saying it would be a good fit.
Arizona should, and I expect will, attempt to distance itself from coaches with a recent track record of infractions, but otherwise I think you are absolutely correct. Pitino would recruit all the talent out of California, bask in the sunshine, and be the biggest celebrity in town. If he could keep his act clean, he could literally work the same sort of rebuilding magic at UofA that he worked at Kentucky. A nice basketball-themed Italian restaurant in the foothills would make a killing, too.

We don't need to and the NCAA doesn't have to "prove" it either, not in the same regard as a courtroom. You're a KU fan. You're happy with the "Sergeant Schultz" explanations, just realize most people are not.

Akinjo would be someone to keep an eye on. He has declared but may not stay in.
Akinjo transferred from Georgetown to Arizona. Very selfish point guard at Georgetown. Hellbent on scoring instead of setting up his teammates.

Whenever people who use the word 'generally' they are stereotyping and trying to lump everyone into one group. You seek to divide and not unite. You may want 'change' but it is your view of 'change' and will accept no other 'change'.

Correct. That’s a claim, not a proof.

He averaged 5and a half assists a game this past season. Not very fair to compare a kid as a freshman then as a jr. Shot 40 percent from 3 this past season.
