Not only do I think we could replace Cal, I’ll cheer when he leaves. Every coach since Rupp has won a title except the two drunks. So basically, don’t be a drunk and you win at Kentucky.

And that would be a particularly relevant thought if:
(1) Stoops merely had a .500 record to date, or
(2) he was trending downward toward a .500 record.
He is above .500, and his trend the last 5 seasons is upward.

The narrative of whether UK is a basketball school or not the issue. Of course we are...our long term history clearly supports such a view. However, the recent data shows that football is trending in the right direction while basketball, despite all it's inherent advantages, has struggled. A strong case can be made that Stoops has way outperformed Cal during this period. It still stuns me that Cal made such a silly mistake by damning the football team with faint praise while pushing his agenda. OTOH, he does have a history of going off on tangents during his scattershot commentary so maybe it's not such a head scratcher.
I take it “the constant” is neither the speed of light nor Pi.

Those defending cal on this is missing the point. It doesn’t matter what kind of school we are - that’s a fanbase argument. Coaches have to be above that and more professional. That is not something you publicly state and regardless of what our history is no coach should publicly suggest their players are more important than any others. Imo cal knew exactly what he was doing and he wanted to rile the fanbase up to gain support for his stance - that’s not a public debate. That’s an in house argument with the AD and the board. It really doesn’t matter what anyone has accomplished or what their challenges are, that’s not professional and not a good example for your kids. Yes stoops rightfully defended his program and yes he may have taken it too far, yes Mitch responded with a heavy hand but if Cal doesn’t make that statement none of this happens. This entire thing is in no way good. It will impact relationships, fan support, the current athletes perception, the coaches perceptions and potential recruits on all sides will see this and ask questions. It was a really poor decision by Cal and if you’re a fan of UK period …. You have to see this as a negative and just hope the damages are minimal all around as we move forward.
If you think UK basketball is doomed without Cal and doomed with Stoops, I’ll pray for you.
I’m not sure there is another “mega class” good enough to overcome Cals coaching deficiencies. He’s got 1 championship and has had more talent than anyone except John Wooden .

And look at what he started with. Sheesh. You cannot look at his overall record. This is not basketball where you get a good player or two and the entire team changes.
