Anyone up digging college bb parleys this morning? Betting some of these games on straights but all parleyed up is decent also.

Here is my lock of the day to help gamblers keep their hard earned money.

Don’t gamble.
Or you can gamble responsibly and spend 20 bucks on a Saturday. Considering that's what most people will spend on alcohol 🍸 or going out to eat today, or on pills and hookers. I don't drink and take pills so my income is fine and since I'm a chef I don't spend money at shitty restaurants which leaves me money to have fun on today.

Pills AND hookers for $20? I do NOT want to spend time in that neighborhood...

You didn't say anything about hookers?

I don’t care if people do just saying that is good advice overall.

I spent $24 this morning on some delicious sourdough bread.

I’ll eat it with grass fed beef today, drink some water with electrolytes and have a great day watching Reds ST baseball and Uk ball

Are you a professional chef?

I share this as a public service WARNING, not to be a buzzkill, because it has been a running issue with my son and the preparation of his income taxes. I am a retired accountant, prepare his taxes and we get into arguments on this. To comply costs him money every year, adding to his usual losses. Maybe he should get another tax-preparer ??

Many people, especially younger ones, do not know that all gambling winnings (not just those reported on Form W-2G) are fully taxable and must be reported on tax returns. They are reported gross, not net, on Schedule 1, Other Income, line 8a, on Form 1040. Gambling losses are deductible to the extent of winnings and are reported as an itemized deduction on Schedule A, Other Itemized Deductions, line 16, on the Form 1040.

The laws for deducting gambling losses on state returns vary, as there are some states that do not allow the deduction of losses. Kentucky is not one of them, as gambling losses are deductible on Schedule A, Other Miscellaneous Deductions, line 12, on Form 740. There are horror stories about heavy gamblers who live in states that do not allow deduction of gambling losses, where the unpaid tax on gross gambling earnings is very substantial, to say the least.

This is much less expensive an issue for folks who are already itemizing deductions.
I guess the gaming industry lobby is pretty strong, as it would only make sense for your social security number to be obtained before wagering. There is probably quite a bit of income tax that is uncollected by Federal and State governments.
If you have questions or concerns, it would be very wise to consult with your CPA or tax-preparer to avoid issues down the road ... if your returns are selected for audit.

GOOD LUCK to everyone with this issue.

Yeah I'm expecting a mess on mine. The W2G FORM that the websites gave me are incorrect. It only showed 3 tickets over taxable 600. I won big tickets over 20 times in last 12 months. Hell I hit 2 different 12 leg parleys on nfl in the same week in December totaling over 1900. I thinking at worst I owe them a few grand.

Sorry about your mess. You should request print-outs that show your total activity. It will included all the gross totals.
If you properly report, the total gambling income will exceed the totals on your W-2G forms. Incorrect forms will probably not be an issue, in my unprofessional opinion ... fwiw.

Most people think you do not need to report gambling income, unless you receive a W-2G. This is incorrect, as per below:

The requirements for the issuance of a W-2G preclude the vast majority of people from ever receiving one, even if they have heavy gambling activity.

Arkansas is fighting for thier ncaa tournament lives today. Missouri doesn't have to have this game so I'm leary of playing this one.

Also Mizzou is primed for a letdown after their big Bama win.

I parlayed Ark and Bama moneylines so I’ll be happy either way. Will sprinkle a little on your parlay as well as it is obviously well-researched. Can’t believe Iowa State is giving up that much. I know it’s a road game but still. Absolutely Rodney Dangerfield on that one.

My wife has an etsy shop and man has the 1099k form been a pain. Now I'm having to get her to provide me a total of all her expenses so we can have the proof in case audited. It looks like we will come out with a smaller refund (after I have to pay h and r block 60 dollars because they won't let you do the 1099k for free online). It's such crap because even though the gross om the 1099k shows a decent year for her, her net pay and profit is maybe 2k due to continually using the sales to fund supplies and so forth.

Sorry to derail thread but I wish I could convince her to stop this. Lol. I'm gonna just have to start doing an additional fit on my work checks or putting some money n an account n case we owe one year.

Such a pain. The gambling piece sounds complex as well.

Iowa St has several injuries today is why that line is so much. I like the cover though on a slow pace game.

My wife was a crafter, too. I definitely understand and feel your pain. GOOD LUCK !!

I used to pay a pretty decent chunk to fill out a paper bracket. I did so because it made EVERY game enjoyable to watch. Why would I otherwise care if Georgia Tech or Dayton won a game?
Otherwise, gambling IS a disease. I know people who have really made their life miserable because of it. If the discipline is there to do it then great. Just don’t let it manipulate how you HAVE to budget your $$$.

Considering I have trouble having enough food since I returned to Kentucky, and no warm clothes whatsoever, I have no money to gamble. Not that I would if I did.

I'd simply rather eat with any money I get. Sad but true.

What town do you live in brother? I got several hoodies, coats and beanies I been meaning to donate. Ain’t much but it’s better than nothing. They’re yours if you want em. Size L (I’m 5’11 160lbs). Buy you a hot meal and a cold beer too if you’re anywhere nearby.

Brother, I certainly would take you up on that. I'm all the way over in Morganfield though. I'm size L now that I lost all this weight ! ( from 335 to 180 now)

If I could drive to get 'em, I'd sure do it !

Hopefully I can get some food bank assistance and help with some donated clothing though, this month. I've gotta goto St. Vincent's here locally and PACS in madisonville next week hopefully for some clothes.... if the guy is there.

It's been a struggle, what can I say.

They are getting 12. Not giving up 12. Houston may very well blow them out, but they will have to make me a believer. Me getting ISU 12 points even on the road with their defense, I like my chances.

I maintain that many "fans" on here are just gamblers, and if it weren't for the gambling they wouldn't be here discussing the Cats. Is what it is.

I'm a former alcoholic (3.5 years sober). For me, I was smart enough to never even learn about online betting/gambling. A handshake bet or a neighborhood poker game is my limits. And besides, my aquarium habit is my guilty pleasure.

I have seen a couple reels about dudes betting on some rocket explosion game. No clue what the concept is, but apparently people are having a blast with it.

Wrong. People having been discussing the Cats on here or elsewhere long before gambling became so mainstream. Strange post there. I'd argue there's more fake, non gambling "fans" on here.
