Looks like it will be ok. I Googled this. Dish and CBS dispute.
Ahead of the SEC championship game

Yes. That's how long ago the dispute was settled. We should be fine to watch the game Saturday.

I currently have both Dish and Direct. I have Direct in three rooms and Dish in one room. I like both but prefer Direct. Less outages and more HD channels.

Sure miss that Faux News and Can't Broadcast Squat. Okay, not really unless the C-A-T-S are playing on them and I have Dish. But I don't!!! :p

The dispute is not settled. I don't know what you are talking about. The channel is blacked out right now.

Cable is the best way to go. If it gets rainy or even a little windy out, direct will go out. Ive never had trouble with cable duringstorms.

Maybe I can talk the cable company into running cable 20 miles out to my house before the game.

I just noticed that CBS and FOX networks have been removed from Dish today. The game Sat. is on CBS, so it will not be on. Guess I'm going to have to switch back to Direct TV before my contract is up! That is in addition to FOX News being off for several weeks now.

It's on Dish..you are wrong

I gave up paying for TV and stream everything straight from my laptop to my HDTV. I'll be watching Saturday.

No bdkatfan is not wrong. For us who get channel 44 out of Evansville IN. it will not be shown on Dish. It is local channel problem.

Had Direct for 22 years. I question how anyone could ever prefer cable.

Direct is expensive, but still cheap entertainment.
Nearly everything is negotiable. Including DirecTV. I promise.

Why would anybody with internet even consider something this stupid?

I see someone above has traveled the same trail I have over the years. I owned a company that installed DIsh many many moons ago. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called (I think maybe STAR) but I remember TCI was the handler I dealt with and they used to laugh about when their satellites went out of commission how everyone would be stuck holding the bag. I got out of the industry roundabout the time DirecTv was becoming a competitor (early 90's IIRC). I also still have friends on Cband and those with them love them and will never part ways. They are few and far between and Im not even sure who they deal with nowadays for service but they have many satellites to choose from compared to Dish and DirecTV.

One other option for those of you in rural areas who CAN obtain good cell service is unlimited data on a phone. I recently set up my parents who are long retired and travel the country in an RV. They use both DirecTV and their unlimited data on their phones and they have more options than folks in congested areas just about everywhere they go. So if you do have good cell service and can afford an unlimited data package I would suggest exploring this option as well. If you keep up with this board and get yourself into some of the forums out there dedicated to just phone/TV technology there is NOTHING out there you cannot watch and many times for free. Its not hard to figure out. Im 60 years old and they are 20 years older than me and there has yet to be a problem I couldnt handle by talking them through it. Its worth looking into.

Also to the installer above if you handle DirecTV I have a truckload of stuff Im about to sell. Transponders and all types of equipment installers need. I bought out a local installer that was getting out of the business just to get my hands on all of the receivers he had. I dont need all of this stuff so if interested Ill take inventory and Im open to offers. I am about to update all of my receivers and renegotiate my contract. I wont be in need of ANY of their gear and all of their extra monthly charges they like to stick you with for using their stuff. Right now I pay about 125 for all of the HD channels, the sports and outdoors pack and the big package that contains everything but premium channels. Using my own stuff what price point should I be looking at?
