Tough one. if we didn’t land sarr not sure what cal had up his sleeve. I’m sure he had some contingency plan. Having said that Cunningham’s potential and skill can’t be overlooked. He’s not generational type talent at least I don’t think but he is a definite candidate for a number 1 pick and consistent all star nba.

I don’t know anything directly about Cade Cunningham’s family. But I believe he wanted to come to Kentucky with all his heart, and that family manipulated and bullied him into another decision.
That family is still part of the package deal with him.
Give me Sarr, a guy who has played three years in the ACC without drama. His family probably doesn’t care about sports beyond Les Bleus. When they hear Kentucky is Big Blue Nation they’ll be right at home.
Besides, 1996 needed an Epps to manage all that talent, not a guy to dominate the ball. 2012 needed Teague not a 20 point a game scorer. All Star teams look better in theory than on the court.

I like Cunningham better as an overall player. But, we need a presence in the middle in a BIG way. So Sart is my choice, he is a proven college player.
You guys are overthinking this. Cade Cunningham is the best player in the country. He's a guy who can elevate an average team to the next level. You don't pass on Luka Doncic just to bring in a mediocre big like Bagley just because it's more of a need.
Would you guys really pass on getting an impact player like RJ Barrett or Jamal Murray just to fill out the roster with a Nate Sestina, or a Reid Travis? How bleh was Kerry Blackshear again last year? What's our history with graduate transfers compared with top 5 NBA Draft locks? Sarr is solid and fills a hole. Agreed. Everyone in this thread is out of their minds. I understand people wanting to answer “Sarr” because he’s already a Wildcat, and he was absolutely the answer to our prayers for that position. But the point guard position isn’t exactly a strength of this roster, and Cade Cunningham is next level. He could average 20 points and 7 assists per game. Cunningham/Boston/Clarke could end up being the greatest backcourt in the history of college basketball.
You just don’t pass up that kind of talent for any reason.
Is this like when the Oklahoma Thunder knew they could only keep one of James Harden and Serge Ibaka, and went with Ibaka because he was more a position of need? That always works out.

Sarr also allows Cal to play more of the style he likes to play.
However, if Cal would open the court and speed the game up a little, Cunningham is a top 2 NBA draft guy to add to an already elite backcourt. Jackson, Ware, can give you enough at the 5 in the college game. Plus, we still would be a very big team with our backcourt being 6’5 plus and the reserves being 6’3. The amount of offensive firepower you could put on the floor w CC, Boston, Clarke, Brooks, Allen, Askew, Mintz....teams wouldn’t be able to keep up.
The issue is we’d likely still play bully ball and over attack w our big guards as well as funnel everything to the middle in D. If you’re going to play that way, you need a big front court to rim protect and dominate the glass.

LOL what? We have 1 of those kids and the other spurned us . I will take the player AT UK . who cares about Cade ? Not even sure why there needs to be more then 1 thread with that dudes name in it . He is not a UK player and never will be . Hell he won't even play in college now .

For of the people saying that Sarr WANTED to be here, all reports are that Cunningham wanted to here also but just felt obligated to help his brother land a job. That is guy that wants to be here but put a family member's need over his own wants. Just saying don't turn your back on Cunningham.

If we landed CC before Sarr was cleared, the machine would probably block us from getting Sarr.
Clarke + Boston + Cunningham makes me think Williamson + Barrett + Reddish. That didn't work out so well, at least for Reddish. I've said before, one of the most amazing things of Calipari's time here is that, given the talent he's recruited, the locker-room issues have been almost non-existent. Another factor, beyond just who would help us more, is how would Cunningham fit into the group we have.....
And the added bonus is that Cade, BJ, and TClarke are all good rebounders for their size. Especially BJ.
This is the answer to the question. I'll run with Sarr all day long and I love Cade's game and think he could be the extra umph a championship season sometimes requires. Sarr chose UK, I choose Sarr.
