Same record at this point last season

I believe if we win Saturday our record will be exactly the same as last season.

That team had 2 lottery picks.

And on December 2nd last season we lost to UNC-Wilmington in Rupp.

We are 3-1 against teams currently ranked in the top 6.

We are dealing with injuries but are in a much better place this season.

I still have faith in Pope.
great post. Far better said in so many fewer words than I ever could.

Thank GOD we got loyal faithful fans that, if you're young or old, old timers or newbies, come here to show support and positively contribute to the community.

That is the proper perspective and a way to see thru concerns and even fears that it's not as positive of a season already as it should be seen.

All in all, I am having blast with the ups and downs considering I said it was mulligan season from the get go. Hell, I say give Pope another year or even two more to truly get a feel for what we can do and where we will be at with him over many years.

I think this first year convinces me, it will have to be some serious deficiencies in a whole lot of areas for the program that, at least so far, he has navigated brilliantly, better than almost anyone else could have even been expected to do in the circumstances.

Yeah, but how do you explain our record against the bad teams??
What bad teams have we struggled against?

I don’t see any losses to UNC-Wilmington, Evansville, or Gardner Webb on our record this year.

I think everyone who has beaten us has a top 50 NET ranking.

And our only losses have been to P5 teams.

And most of those were while dealing with injuries.

Nobody could have realistically expected a smooth transition given the total roster rebuild. There was always going to be turbulence. Still hopeful that it's going to work out well, but it may take some time to stabilize. Teams have slumps. Let's see how they respond to it and how they finish out the regular season.
The main problem last year was the last game.
The main problem was the defense. The last game was a result of that.

I don't know how this turn out 2-3 years from now. None of us does. But there's different ways to look at what we've seen so far. Here's one: What if this is basically a .500 basketball team, and Pope is getting way more out of them than most others would? But maybe at times they just play like that .500 basketball team.
