I believe if we win Saturday our record will be exactly the same as last season.

That team had 2 lottery picks.

And on December 2nd last season we lost to UNC-Wilmington in Rupp.

We are 3-1 against teams currently ranked in the top 6.

We are dealing with injuries but are in a much better place this season.

I still have faith in Pope.

Good points. I think we all have believed at some point this year, the wheel could fall off. Pope has done a nice job this season with lesser talent than UK is used to seeing. That said, injuries are a real and negative issue. If I have one question about Pope would be whether he's "too" nice and that might prevent him from getting to most out of his players. I hope he figures it out because I do like the guy and want him to succeed. We have to see if he has recruiting chops to get the athletes that he will need.

This.

AND the SEC was SO much weaker last year.

AND our strength of schedule was SO much weaker last year. (Per Kenpom on this date last year our strength of schedule ranking was 54. Today ours is 5.)

AND we are just a better team in terms of net efficiency of body of work so far even with all our injuries and bonehead moments figured in. Today we are Kenpom ranked 2 in offense and 112 in defense (Kenpom ranked 24). Last year on today’s date we were ranked 7 in offense and 102 on defense (Kenpom ranked 27)—with no injured players we could expect might come back and help fix that.

I'm with you 100%!!!! And the sec didn't have as many top 25 ranked teams! And should be more of them in the top 25!

I’m right there with you !

If the team were playing with passion/desperation to win every possession, then there would be little room for criticism. We all get the hastily assembled team plus the injuries meam you are going to take lumps. However, when people are not putting hands up on defense, not moving feet, not showing any emotion (hell even start a fight), anything to show you care, it makes it frustrating to watch. It is not the record but the effort or lack thereof. I don't know how Pope gets these guys to find their fight or their pride but until he does, we are an easy mark for any team with a pulse.

The biggest problem is Cal left us dying of thirst for winning. In a desert. Pope deserves a real shot and put what he could together in Spring.

Unfortunately for him he inherited a rabid fanbase that's starving. I think most of us know patience is warranted but it's been sooo very long since we tasted real success that we are rabid. An already crazy fanbase is frothing at the mouth and the only thing that will quench them is victory.

In pope long term yes. For this year, I just don’t see it. To many issues and not enough time. Long term pope is smart, he will figure it out

My faith in Pope hasn’t waivered a little. My faith in our fans has been affected significantly. The chicken littles are out to destroy any future we may have
Yes, Jaxon Robinson comes on here and reads what we all post on here. The players only see the Twitter and Facebook fans, who by the way are way worse than anybody on here.

I have a feeling Pope doesn't push back when players aren't receptive, or when they are questioned (ie, asking for update on rehab process).

Anything to sunshine pump, huh?

Last years team had much more talent and while they lost in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament they were a 3 seed.

I see no path to this current team being a 3 seed.

Let me give you some numbers

In the past 5 games Kentucky is 1-4 in those 5 games they are #1 in OFF EFF and #246 in DEF EFF

In the 9 games in the SEC this year they are #343 in DEF EFF

No path? We are a 3 seed in the latest bracketology…are we likely to remain there? No, not given the injuries…but no path? That’s just an absurd thing to say

LOL at the "fans" on this site who are still pining for last year's coach, who is currently 2-6 in the SEC and not even in the conversation for an NCAA bid from a conference that could get 13 of their 16 teams in the tournament.

If they would stop and think a minute, that 2-6 team would be UK right now if he had stayed here.

And if ANYONE thinks that last dude would have beaten Duke and Gonzaga in November, you haven't been paying attention the past 5 years.

Pope just said in the last postgame the team is aware of everything being said.
On Twitter and Facebook? And yes that’s a bit much I will 1000 agree with you. Especially the ones that attack them and insult them. But I just can’t see college players coming to rupp rafters.

I think we all have a responsibility to be fair and honest in our criticism. I definitely get not everyone agrees with that. However, if we can’t acknowledge that we have a team that was thrown together and now we are missing effectively three key pieces and consider that in the critique, I have serious questions about how on board that person was with Pope to begin with. That’s how I see things.
