Let's be honest.... State is having a disappointing season of their own .... and UK isn't exactly a marquee opponent.
Wonder what the prices would be for Miss St at Ky this week ? Ah not much , not give away like state but we would only be slightly better imo
Highly thought of young DC from the Rocky Long coaching tree from San Diego St, has been a West Coast guy from his coaching start. Put into a very unfortunate situation what with the Mike Leach(was Leach's DC) death. Trying to transition away from the Air Raid to a more traditional O. Plays a gimmick D(if there's such an animal) in that they'll blitz about every play. Doubt he survives but he's a good, young(only 37) coach who'll resurface as a DC elsewhere. This game is extremely dangerous for UK.
Sadly, we are another rotten season or two away from where they are right now. We are a lot closer to Miss State than Alabama or Georgia.
Why would it be dangerous?
Miss St is playing without best 2 offensive players.....just not a good reason we don't win handily (not blowout)
Agree, that's how it SHOULD play out....but will it? Anytime you play anybody on the road at night in the SEC it's dangerous. Miss St is overdue to play beyond their talent level, just about everybody does at some time and St hasn't yet. And what's UK's mentality for this game? While you and I see them cranked up and ready to attack, I can also see them coming out pancake flat. Don't know who their QB will be but Mike Wright came into CWS last year and put 300+ yards of total O on UK. He's a very capable passer and a much better runner than Melton. UK should win but if they aren't focused and motivated it could be a long night.
We are a bad hire away from becoming rotten and if this is a bad hire for them they will be down for a while.

2012 - It was the last season of Joker Phillips (2-10, 0-8) Final nail in the coffin - a 40-0 home loss to Vanderbilt.
2013 - Mark Stoops first season, also (2-10, 0-8)

Sure....UK is a bad hire away from back to 2-3 win days.
But to be fair...Miss St made it's own decision to hire Zac Arnett at $3.5M....why they didn't choose to spend more of that SEC money to hire a better coach....that is their problem.
UK is paying $9M and if Stoops were to be gone....I'd hope Mitch would have enough sense to spend some money to make sure things would not bottom out. (But even Mitch is a wildcard...he could go the guy he knows route and give teh job to Brad White/Liam Coen...which would be dumb).
Same could be said for about 90% of college football teams, including everyone in the SEC except Alabama and Georgia.

That’s what I would think but I was curious as to what the person who originally said that comment had to say. It seemed like they thought we were in the middle of a rotten stretch.
We have absolutely had one disappointing season and are possibly looking at a 2nd in a row but not “rotten” by any means.

The sec office screwed us that year. Almost every team we played was coming off a bye week because of covid. But we were forced to play bama with a lot of our staff and players having covid. We got screwed all year. Just the normal sec taking care of us!!!!
So one game under 500 with an all power 5 schedule is equivalent to the worst seasons in football history?

So, in the last 11 seasons, twice has Kentucky went (2-10 overall, 0-8 conference) Jokers last season and Stoops 1st season. And somehow 5-6 in the Covid season is worse than that???
Unless I'm mistaken, u6 is playing 11 games against p5 schools in Brohms first season and they very well may go 10-2..11-1.
So, outside of Notre Dame & Duke, Louisville is playing no one!

It was an ok season considering. Definitely not one of the worst ever.
I'd like to see the sec go to 10 games permanently. It was fun to watch.

Enough of your doomsday nonsense. We're still 5-3 with a good chance at 8-4 in a season where we had to play Bama and UGA. Of course we're closer to Mississippi State than Bama or UGA. The vast majority of teams are too.
