I hope not. I'm still of the opinion that that man pulled Kentucky out of the darkest era it had ever been in. I'm old enough to remember where we were at that point, how we got there and just exactly what that man did to make Kentucky what it is today. I am unimaginably grateful for it, too.
While I disagree with most of his behaviors at Louisville, I'll never forget what he did at Kentucky. No matter what he has done there, he certainly doesn't deserve roasting at Rupp Arena of all places. I understand why you feel that way though. Just remember, Coach Pitino will ALWAYS be one of us.

IMO, I think UK will work to make sure there won't be very many signs or any for that matter about UL's "escort" service that's being provided by the UL AD on the UL campus. Will RP hear some Booo's , yep. Now, would I laugh if there were some creative/funny signs referring to UL's beneficial "escort" service? YEP! Oh, I'll tip my cap to anyone that can get a funny (not tacky) sign on camera Saturday.

Pitino did orchestrate a relatively quick rejuvenation of UK basketball with a somewhat gimmicky system that was fun to watch even when they weren't winning. But I think Pitino would recoil if he read your comment that he was "one of us." He barely tolerated UK fans and the people of Kentucky, and only then because he knew it was part of the job. He wasn't a nice person, and particularly didn't like Kentuckians who he considered/considers a bunch of ignorant hicks that were beneath him and graced by his presence. I was at UK at the time, and he sure wasn't "one of us."

You are correct that they will try to make sure no distasteful signs get in. They had the 101 members do the same for the UL football game. They will also try to ensure that anything that does get in gets dealt with and does not make it on TV.

I'm old enough to remember too. My UK years were 82-86. While I appreciate what he did, he turned his back on UK and then went to our most hated rival. At least in sports, that is unforgivable. You're either for me or against me. He chose against. He deserves the disgust he gets from 90% of UK fans, for his actions as a coach and even more so for his actions as a man.
I despise the man but I wouldn't lower myself by acting like a fool at the game. Boo him and move on.

I liked that Joe B impression he does/did (Haven't been around to hear his show in ages.) Other than that I don't think much of Meiners....he seems to be a legend in his own mind. AND, he does have a face for radio...(Heck I have a decent face for radio but my southern drawl leaves me out of the broadcasting bit...)

Pitino has been at UofL longer than he was at UK. He has committed public adultery in a restaurant. He has paid for an abortion and given hush money to keep his sleazy affairs secret. He has surrounded himself with a staff that paid for hookers to entertain recruits and their fathers. His son tried to get UK in trouble with the NCAA. He constantly takes shots at our coach in the most underhanded ways and you want to talk about "class" and Pitino in the same post?

He is one of five coaches that have won us a championships. Period. He is history as far as I am concerned and nothing but a scumbag.

I'm not a Pitino apologist by any means, but Pitino has owned up to the fact that he made a mistake. He even went as far as to say Kentucky is the Roman Empire of college basketball in front of UL fans in Freedom Hall on ESPN for College Gameday once.
In my opinion, he's not that man anymore; either as coach or a person.
And no, with all due respect, I have to disagree with you. He will not always be one of us - he never WAS one of us, by his own choice. He held himself apart, and never truly embraced the BBN. And his actions when he came back to the state only proved he thought he was bigger than the program, and better than the residents of this state.
