We should remember that some of these guys could return. But looking at that list, I’d say most of them were asked to move on except Cummings. I hope he finds his way back. There will be more. Wouldn’t surprise me to 20 on this list by Friday.

He's been kind of a Dekel and Hyde ...

It doesn’t matter anyway. We don’t play or develop the backups. If the starter goes down we’re screwed. It’s that simple.
I know….. I agree with you…. This isn’t Pop Warner where everyone gets to play, but the inability / unwillingness to play our backups for depth and development is a huge indictment of the entire staff.

I don’t think us fans would be patient enough to allow that. Their backs are against the wall trying to get wins. His style of offense doesn’t coach the blowout so you can get the backup in the game. Take a look at Georgia, the best team in the Country, their backupQB threw like 16 passes all season. Damned you do damned you don’t. And as we all know, the best player on the team is the backup quarterback. 😂😂

Let's not forget Horsey and Phillips declared for the draft. Maybe not that different from a lot of other schools, but sure seems like we're losing a lot of depth across the board (QB room can be a phone booth next year). Looking at the portal list, very few have made much impact and/or were expected to do so (K. Wade a notable exception, maybe Geiger and Cummings).

But, dang, every year we're going to have to rebuild our roster? I know Stoops makes a ton of money but not sure I think it'd be worth it. You bust your butt to land a solid/very good HS recruiting class and then have to re-recruit them every single year so they don't bolt. All while trying to recruit the next crop of HS-ers who'll leave if they aren't immediate starters. That would suck mightily.

Knock on wood, I know it is early but so far besides K. Wade it’s been an alright portal season. Hopefully they continue to bring in better than they lose.

Yeah, I bet every yr from now on we will have 10 to 15 leave via the portal. Same for just about everyone else on average. Just the way of the world from now on.

That’s every school nowadays. If you look at it from a positive standpoint, you bring in guys, give them as fair a chance as possible (most of the time) to become SEC level players, and that’s not a given, then after they show you what they can or cannot do, you put them back in the mix and seek out better players. I gotta tell you, it’s worked out pretty well for us all things considered. We brought in a starting NFL quarterback, a potential NFL running back, several other bona fide pro prospects and we’ve basically seen just about everybody that’s left, transfer down a notch at best. Might lose a guy like Justin Rogers but he was fat and out of shape here and wasn’t going to play as much so good riddance. I like the portal for that reason. I think it helps teams like Kentucky.

Frankly, I wish Rogers the best.

But I can’t help but wonder if he had any regrets as New Mexico State boat-raced the mighty Tigers in the greatest point-margin upset in the history of College football.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows we didn’t have a viable back-up QB and haven’t for a while now, cost us the SC game last year but it happens.

I'm mixed on Sheron, I think he has the ability and the tools to be successful somewhere, and I think he will be wherever he lands. That SC game wasn't all on him. it was on the staff and Scang not putting together a game plan that let him play to his capabilities. THen again this year when he played the entire 4th quarter of the MSU game, he threw one pass on his second play which was a beautiful completion to Key for a first down. After that it was lock him up. handoff, handoff, couple of sacks, more handoffs. If Leary had gone down for an extended period, and Sheron given the reins and allowed to do his thing, I think he could have performed decently. Not gonna say great, but I think he would have been a serviceable backup if he wasn't handcuffed.

Maybe, would have liked to have seen what Sheron was capable of but we’ll never know. As far as the SC game, I definitely agree about the game plan and we also spotted them a td off the bat by trying to be cute.

I think we will find out what he's capable of depending on where he lands. I could see him being pretty successful at the MAC or SunBelt type level. I bet Sumrall would take him in a heartbeat and give him a shot.

I’m sure he has FBS aspirations but if I’m him and want to start and absolutely sling the rock while staying close to home. I’d head to Richmond. Parker McKinney has finally graduated and the Colonels need a QB1

Troy would be a great landing spot for him, maybe even Destin Wade if he’s still insistent on playing QB but I can’t see Keaten wanting to play there.

Looking at the Clemson board they seem to be losing several players off their defense. They may be more shorthanded than us

That's their problem. Keaton needs to kick some sense into Destin about exploring other positions, or Destin is going to end up holding Keaton back, if they insist on playing together. Mom and Dad aren't helping their causes any either.

Especially if the speculation is true that Davis, Phillips and some of the other guys leaving or declaring decide to suit up for the bowl.
