And yet here you are in this thread spouting NIL rumors of $1.2 million you got from the internet.
I get it. But A) I flat don't like the guy, and no IU fan that I've talked to (10ish) are too upset he's leaving. Very telling. And B) there's gonna be nice players that haven't entered the portal yet. The fact that Pope isn't panicking and scraping the bottom (not saying Mgbako is) tells me he's working on stuff we don't know about.

Mackenzie Mgbako decommitted from Duke, we understood it, but it was a bummer.
Mgbako changed his mind right after Kyle Filipowski decided to skip out on the NBA Draft and returned to Duke for his sophomore season.
Excused from Duke? I thought he decommitted due to Flip and Mark Mitchell returning to Duke for their Sophomore year.
Question for the board, who would you rather roll out there. Mgbako or Noah??? Love Noah, but Mgbakos star potential is definitely there and if Pope can get this kid to shoot the ball with efficiency. I believe he could take a step to being the player people thought he was coming out of college.
I would hope he's just being used as recruiting leverage with other guys but I'd absolutely pass.
I said if he's going for Noah's spot as 11th-12th man, then sure he's worth a flier.
But he definitely has not shown the past 2 years to be good enough to be one of our top 8 guys.
But you your Noah question, honestly it could be close, to early to tell, ask us in 7 months. Mgbako improved ZERO from FR to SOPH year, his stats were nearly identical. At least with Noah there is more reason to hope he will improve. And we know EFFORT won't be a problem with Noah like it supposedly has been with Mgbako. But at this moment Mgbako is better than Noah.

I thought all along with how Coach Pope looks at the game ANALYTICALLY, he had all of this transfer portal stuff figured out to the point where once the season ended, the players he wanted would be locked up quick.

Agree, that should be the theory. But it’s looking like we can’t either afford 4 “superstars” to pair with O0 or can’t convince 4 to sign. That said, if the team gets 25% better and stays 50% healthier we will be cooking.

He’s a dude that can’t guard anybody, doesn’t move without the ball unless he feels like it, has the foot speed of Betty White, is about at athletic as a 65 year old with a knee replacement and will not be the shooter you hope he’ll be.

The portal is open until april 21. Probably will be plenty of options
I would be worried if UK landed Reneau. Reneau never had any coaching at IU (Woody was useless) but was still a hard working badass who was very tough to stop in the paint.
At UK Reneau would have expanded his game with a quality coach like Pope who could have taught Malik how to play defense without being a foul machine. Mgbako might be the single most disappointing Hoosier I’ve watched of, at least, the last 10 years.
I’ve watched every game of theirs on B10 network or Fox and yeah he will infuriate a lot of people on here including me. He may be worth a flyer but not at a million plus. That’s starter level money which he shouldn’t be close to here.
Yeah Reneau I could get behind, at least he’s unstoppable on the block.
This would not be an expectations boosting signing. He could be trending for a breakout season, but damn, that's a lot of hoping.
