Roster is Set. Lace them up and let’s go!

We lost lewis. So I am sure we are trying to add another guard. Would not only make sense, but for obvious reasons 😏. Lol

disagrees with you? No, just pointing out something you obviously didn't know... once again, keep up
Are you saying I didn’t know players don’t like having to compete for minutes, or that it takes an extra size check to make it happen? As stated repeatedly, I’ll be the happiest person on this board if we get another high quality guard/wing. I also believe (as already stated) that Pope will try to make it happen.
I’ll be happy with any good additions. However, I disagree that we have a gaping whole as the roster sits.

Mark Twain one wrote, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

You appear to have great experience and skill conversing with anyone who disagrees with you. Congrats for being the first person I’ve ever put on “ignore.” I’m sure you’ll take it as a badge of honor.

People thought we were done after we landed Mo D.
Then they thought we were done after JQ.
Now they think it is done after Jelavic committed today.

The fact is, the roster will be done when Pope says it's done, and he hasn't said that yet.

Ain't that right, Lamar?

Agreed. I think we get Wilkerson and that is a wrap. Goal has to be that Perry and Noah are used sparingly this year. And though I know little about Moreno, I would think he'd be last rotati on guy off bench....just physically, think it will be a challenge for him.

I think roster is set. Pope may add another wing shooter or PG. (Think Almonor type piece.) I don’t see another guard expecting quality minutes to join this team.

Most quality players don’t want to compete with Lewis, CC, JJ, and Perry. Most basket people think Chandler has a high ceiling and can play both spots. Same for Johnson. Perry is the emergency parachute. (I’ll be the happiest person on this board if I’m wrong and someone of Jackson’s ability joins up.) I just don’t see any high quality player joining that logjam.

New stretch 4 was biggest need. I want to keep BG, and I want JQ to be healthy by early Dec.

I’m guessing Pope adds another PG we’ve never heard of who’s just happy to be at UK. However, I’m happy with the roster and ready for Nov to get here!
We aren’t done yet playa!

Pope isn’t done. UK will be the first team to have reverse NIL where the player pays the school to play. We will have 20 players on our 15 scholarship team. We will be immune to injuries. It’ll be glorious.

In all seriousness I think we add 1 more guard.

I posted on sticky post that’s gone now.

I wouldn’t mind if UK added Wes Enis from Lincoln Memorial (same school as Elyjah Freeman). He’s a 6’2” combo guard that can be your backup PG. Just finished his SO year. Was the conference POY and Def POY.

20.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.1 apg
46% overall, 42% 3s, 84% FTs

I know he has visited Minnesota and has offers from other P4 schools.

I agree, but do you think it will be a major contributor or a minor one? I’m not sure how I even think of Almonor from last year. He may have won us 1-2 games. I don’t think we beat Tn w/o him. However, he was an afterthought in the portal world and just wanted the UK experience before leaving college.

Again, I’ll be happy with a top guard. But, won’t be surprised if those guys to go to less crowded teams so they get more minutes.

What quality of transfer do you think we get?

I’d be happy with a 5th year PG/SG thats comparable to what Almonor gave us last year. Teams seem to gravitate around the team “pops.”

Perry and Noah will be 8 to 12 minute guys at least.

Looks like we need a true point. I expect good things from Chandler. But he is not a point any more than Oweh is.

But maybe Pope is ok with point guard by committee?

Even if we don’t add anyone this is a very good roster.

I just pay attention and don't panic like all the chicken littles around her.
I’m not panicking. I’m just the opposite, and think we have a very good roster as currently constructed. (Your “panic” comment may have been aimed at others who were in meltdown mode earlier this week.)

I will gladly welcome another top flight guard and I’m sure Pope is selling top guards on being part of something special. However, my guess is those players will now take more prominent roles on less competitive teams. Jackson is probably the only “current” transfer who’s confident he can come and jump to top of the rotation.

I’m still guessing we end up with a 5th/6th year guard who brings experience, but is comfortable in the Almonor role.

I’m super confident in this roster and think they’ll be athletic, better defensively, and still avg in low 80’s. I’m excited for Nov to get here!

Acaden Lewis quit
We lost Lewis…..

Lewis is gone.

I hope we get another guard.

He's saying that people don't want to come here and compete with Lewis on other teams. If they went to Lewis's new team they could be his teammates. But if they come here they'd have to compete with him. That's what he's saying.

.......I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Major shooter and possible backup pg or development piece.

I'm just glad you didn't build our roster. We lost our 2 best shooters in Robinson and Brea. Who have we added to replace them? But you're set to go. Got it.

We added a team of shot makers that we lacked last year. Both Brea and Robinson could not get their own shots. We now have several that can do that as well as adding overall length so we have definitely upgraded to the point we are a top 5 team for next year before we even get Lamar's commitment.

Isn't williams a 40 % shooter?
I suspect chandler will indeed be the other replacement.
A 22 yr old sophomore will most likely progress at a rate superior to 19 yr old ones.

Nobody with any sense thought he was done with Mo

I wish we would have landed Wilkerson, but I'm not surprised by the decision. Wilkerson said exactly what most top portal guards would think: "I want to be The Man and not just one of the guys."

Fans typically undervalue players on their team and overvalue players they want. (That's normal.) I've always thought that top portal guards/wings would be scared away by the Chandler/Johnson/Oweh/Williams combination. It will take a special player to join that mix. (I think Jackson is one of the few players who would be confident enough to join that crowded backcourt, and I have no clue where we stand with him.)

Here's just my guess at what ends up happening. Pope will continue to recruit another player. However, I believe we end up with a veteran point guard who can shoot. We need another veteran who's a PG/SG version of what Almonor was last year.

I'll take any additions Pope brings to the team. However, I'm ready to lace them and begin the season. This is a much better roster than last year.
