Rogers and Henry-Young

That’s the problem with Henry-Young, once you go to a Big Ten school you have zero self-confidence that you’re an SEC-level athlete. Once in awhile you’ll have your Burrows and Jamesons but we shouldn’t take transfers who have so much self-doubt in themselves that they go play football in the Big Ten.

I don't know what scheme tOSU runs by DHY looks like a classic 4-3 DE. In UK's 3-4 scheme the DEs look more like tackles. He probably knew or was told that when he transferred he would likely have to spend a year to develop his size.

Might be good to get Henry-Young in some against Youngstown State where his size won't be that much of a disadvantage.

I think we had entire 2nd string DLine in with 7 mins to go in game. (And I think some backup LB’s) That speaks volumes about Stoops’s and BW’s confidence in our line and the quality of our depth.

This depth has been building for a few years, but this kind of depth has fresh bodies in game at all times and allows our LB’s to feast.

When you study the entire roster, excluding QB is Levis leaves, the DL looks to the position for sure that needs a couple more big, young and talented players. Yes we go two deep in similar quality and size and the three on the third team we don't know about yet. But with Rogers and Hayes going to be seniors, we need to be getting a couple more ready next year before they go. Plus, we could lose a player or two in the portal.

I agree, and I have no idea what their long term plans are, but Hayes/Rogers/ Ox/Rybka still have a “COVID year”, so they could have 2 more years

If Rogers keeps this up he will be a day two pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He's one of the better NT's in the country. It's a very niche position that largely gets undervalued at the next level.

FWIW, I believe Henry-Young got some good reps in against Youngstown. Hopefully they continue to work him in during these two weeks. Having another pass rusher for 3rd and longs can be huge if he comes along. I know there are some concerns about his size but honestly that is the only role we need him to fill these year. If coaches have enough confidence to start running him out during the SEC slate, I will be excited!

I watched Henry-Young on a couple of plays against Youngstown. Very quick off the ball, I thought he looked good. Does look like he could add some lbs though. Hope he gets some more playing time especially on passing downs. Though I am very happy with our current DL play,

And they could also bounce to the NFL early.
I do not think any of those players on our d-line are leaving early for the NFL. All of them are good players. But none of them are so good that it would be to their advantage to leave early to try to get into the NFL draft. The one exception is Deone Walker, but it is not the true freshman's time yet. Enjoy Walker while you can.
