Robinson and Butler....

Kentucky boys will keep getting opportunities to fill in and step up.
Carr looks like he is moving better; he just need to get back into his pre-injury rhythm.
Think that will trend that direction each game back out there.
And we need to knock down 10-12 3’s a game.
I feel like a monster 3 game is coming where we hit 15 or 16 3’s.
Brea- keep developing and ballin on both ends of the court!

This would put them back by March 1st against Auburn. I hope the team can hold down the fort and get some wins in the meantime. And maybe the committee with take injuries into account.

You know, we hear every single year just about, how the selection committee takes into account injuries when players were missing for the tournament at seasons end when they were obviously not coming back and taking an entire body of work into account, etc.

here's my thought on that :

The selection committee REALLY has their hands FULL with looking at Kentucky in that regard this season. Look at what they've done pretty much the entire season now. How do they quantify it? Does it even make a difference in seeding or placement for Kentucky ?

IT SHOULD.

I see Kentucky's 7 losses and I've watched a lot of basketball nationally this year. Kentucky stacks up against anyone as far as the 7-1 record vs top 15 teams this year. Quad one wins ? Quad 1 A ? By their own criteria, Kentucky LOOKS LIKE a 2 seed right now. Regardless of the seven losses they sit on.

No BLUE TINT to goggles or glasses needed.

I said pre season this team might get a #3 seed nationally. I still think they will end up a #3 or #4 seed.

Well, all I am going to say if they get a #4 seed or lower ( which could be very probable, and there wont be much of a fuss I'd think if that's where they end up ) that the 2011 Cats (Knight & Jorts' team) they got a 4 seed and got placed into the overall #1 team's bracket, Ohio State. They were under seeded then, got a raw deal on placement, and look at what they did.

See : Banner hanging.

After demolishing Florida in the SEC tournament, to see Florida with that #2 seed and Kentucky a #4, it was wrong. Plain wrong. And I am not saying Florida didn't deserve a 2 seed. They proved they earned it by not getting upset in that 2011 tournament that was ruled by upsets. I still feel strongly UK should have had at least a 3 seed and Florida a 3 seed at best, but hey. it was what it was.

And sometimes, things happen for reasons not too apparent to the mortal eye.

And my thought this morning was : Maybe all these injuries THIS YEAR, as crazy as it is, maybe things have just happened the way they have for reasons that might not yet be as apparent as they may seem to be. I'm not projecting here. But I will say the shock and development for everyone involved - over the course of the entire wacky season - has made a team that has true heart and soul.

I love this team & our coach, and am very grateful to be a Kentucky basketball fan. NO matter where we go, what we are seeded, who we play, however much the selection committee takes into account what THIS YEAR'S Kentucky team has gone through, it's been a special year.

I implore them all to do their due diligence. ( and NCAA, clean up the officiating will you please?)

Go Big Blue !

If their out for those 4 games then man it’s just puts way to much stress on all these young guys. I don’t see how we could expect to win any of these upcoming games with the backcourt out. Maybe vandy at home, you grind it out.

Butler sitting and getting healthy for March is for the best. We have to have him if we want to make a run
I agree with this concept. Whether we get a 2-3 seed vs a 4-5 seed is not a huge deal.
Say Butler was 90% on Tuesday. That clearly wasn't healthy enough. We then need him at least 95%.
Because without both him and Robinson, we are not making an extended March run.

In terms of importance to this team, I would rank our guys Butler, Oweh, Williams, Robinson, Carr, Brea, Garrison, Almonor. Then of course if any are out or not healthy, then others importance may go up. For example with Carr at 80-90% now, that elevates Almonor past Garrison.

BTW, Tuesday the first time I saw Robinson holding his wrist in pain I was screaming at my tv "take him out and sit him" this one game is not worth losing an important player for an extended period.

If your predictions were true we’d be 0-24 right now. Lay off the weed and stay away from old people.

Here is my question, if still banged up should Pope sit all his wounded during the SEC tournament and if we lose that first game we lose but win or lose it gives those guys who are hurt more time to heal for the big show????
No.

This team has been through it all. I’m convinced at this point that if we get 85% healthy we’ve got a shot at a final four (or better?). What haven’t they overcome?

Two big road games coming up @ Texas and @ Oklahoma. I imagine the outcomes of these two games likely determines if we get a 4/5 seed or are in contention for a 3 seed. Margins are thin on the 3-5 seed lines, and it's late in the season.

Lose both and we may be a 5 seed.
19-12 [8-10]
Split them and we slide up to a 4 seed.
20-11 [9-9]
Win both and we can be a 3 seed.
21-10 [10-8]

@ Texas - ?? (coin flip game)
VS Vanderbilt - W (safe win)
@ Alabama - L (too tough on the road, especially without Butler and Robinson)
@ Oklahoma - ?? (coin flip game)

VS Auburn - L (likely loss but potential win, only because we seem to have a taste for Quad 1A wins and it's at home)
VS LSU - W (safe win)
@ Missouri - L (potential win, but likely loss)

With how this season has played out so far though, we'll probably win @ Bama and @ Missouri and VS Auburn and lose at home to Vandy, so who knows.

Let's just win out and get that 1 seed :)
24-7 [13-5]

I think we beat Vandy, Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU. If we can get Butler/Robinson or both for Mizzou we can win that as well. I’d take that. Gets us what 21 or so wins?

Why would you need to get a third opinion on a sprained wrist. That makes me think he hurt it worse
Have no idea what happened in the SCAR game, but here is the bottom line...Robinson went to the bench holding his wrist in clear pain later in the second half.

UK builds a 20 pt lead, the game is clearly out of reach. And what does Pope do? He brings Robinson back into the game.

We can throw all the flowers we would like to at Pope, and deservedly so. But that move borderlines on insanity and is a fireable offense.

Before everyone goes nuts, I am not saying Pope should be. But I am saying if Barnhart came out after the game and said Pope was gone because of that decision, I would 100% understand.

Maybe it’s just me, but Pope seems to overstate the injuries or use them as some type of gamesmanship. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sit a couple games and are back at Bama.
I can see that as well. I have sprained my wrist, and it’s not something you need 3 different opinions from doctors on

I wouldn’t go that far. I think it was clearly a mistake to put him back out there. Once UK got up double digits they were clearly winning that game.

Without Butler I say UK better work on their zone D. Other than Oweh there’s no one else that can stay in front of a quick guard.

Being as healthy as possible for the NCAA tournament should be the highest priority now. If that means sacrificing the SEC tournament to a degree or a couple of seed spots, then that's OK.

Being healthy is more important than our seed with this team. We can beat anyone if healthy, which means we can still do it as a 5 seed.
