Rob Dillingham

Yep - said the same about Sheppard going third .... no offense to BBN, but he's just not a top 3 talent.
It is early, for sure, but this rookie class is one of the weakest in memory ... maybe in history.
Some of these youngsters may reach their projected levels, but certainly not all.
Their youth provides them plenty of time to learn the pro game and assimilate it.
Dedication and effort will be the keys to maximizing their talent and extending their careers.

It wasn't up to him where he went.
It is amazing that you had to remind the poster that if you are not a free agent or undrafted free agent you don't get to pick the team you play for.

It hurts his chance at ROY though. And there's probably a bonus in his contract for achieving that.

I guess that part stinks, but I still think he was gonna be a Longshot for ROY anyways. Minnesota had talent regardless of the trade so I think his touches were ultimately going to keep him from ROY.. where as guys like Edey, Sarr or even Reed should get more volume.

Guys.....I was being tongue in cheek. It's funny that one of you thought that was a defense of Cal and another thought I was taking a shot at him.
People need to lighten up. I thought it was obviously tongue in cheek. Some people hate Cal so much it overrides common sense.

He was never going to win it anyway. I don't have the time to look it up, but I would be curious to know how many ROYs over the past 20 years have been on playoff teams. It can't be that many. Only thing that would change that for Dillingham would be an injury to AntMan.

Minnesota traded away future assets to get him. They see Dillingham as the PG of the future unless they have discovered something majorly wrong with him. That said, I would have expected him to have more minutes than Bronny at this point.

RD is too small to play the 2. And is not a 1.

Can he become a 1?

Maybe?

He doesn’t guard either.

He has the ability to be a decent defender. It’s up to him to want to.

Rob is… different. Hopefully his new teammates like him. Coming in as a rook, that’s vital.

Rob led all rookies in assists per game and ast/to ratio in the preseason. In just under 20 minutes a game he averaged 5 assists and only 1 turnover a game.

He was also 2nd in assists per game (7.6) among rookies in summer league as well. The only player ahead of him was Isaiah Stevens who is 23 years old.

T'Wolves are playing the tightest rotation in the league right now.
How many DNP's do you give him before you consider just sending him down to the G- league?
I'd say Rob and Shannon are the only two 1st rounders not to see the floor yet.

NBA’s a joke. Freaking Brandon Boston got 3 minutes for the Pelicans last night and Reeves got 0. I was glad they got blown out.

Hopefully it's a mutual understanding that he's going to learn from Conley before getting serious run. But you'd think he'd get a few minutes ...
Too young? Too thin? Goes solo too much?

I don't know. He didn't scream pro material to me, but I'm hardly sought after for my ability as a talent evaluator. In the run up to last season, there was a game between a bunch of All-Stars and Reed Shepard's team. Mid-West something. Anyway, Dillingham was the PG for the All-Stars and just disappeared. There are players who can dominate typical athletes, but that's their ceiling. They never get it going against superior ones. Waaay back in the Joe B days, we had a highly touted small forward who killed it in HS, but whose college career was just a tick above average. Didn't have a pro career at all. That could be Dillingham. At the same time, he might have a low level health issue that kept him out of recent games and he'll be a star next week.

I saw Sheppard get in briefly against the Mavs the other night, and he looked out of his league. His teammates were kind of "shutting him out" on the offense.

It’s crazy, they are DNP Terrance Shannon too. Both of their first round picks. I don’t know what the strategy is, maybe let them sit and come along slow until next year?
They give Joe Ingles about 5 min a game but out side of that it's just Naz Reid, Walker and Donte off the bench.
They also seem to be limiting Conley's min which makes the Rob situation even more bizarre.
