Rob Calabrese

Oh and has Coens stamp of approval for what it’s worth.
I'd say that is worth a lot. Reading between the lines, it seems like there was some sort of "help find a replacement" arrangement between stoops and Coen from the jump. I get the sense the UK OC job is gonna be a bridge job for NFL Position coaches to audition for a NFL coordinator job for a few years. It might be a really good strategy. Having a few NFL coaches in the Stoops tree could really boost recruiting.

Like the guy from the Eagles that KSR mentioned. Lots of college and pro and a good recruiter apparently

I didn't watch the Jets play this year so I went and watched some clips and it looks very similar to the UK offense from last year.

Jets OC Mike Lafleur, whose Brother is Matt Lafleur, spent 8 years with Kyle Shanahan at 3 different teams. So it makes since there were similarities. The Jets appear to use a TE lined up at FB a decent amount which is more of a Shanahan wrinkle to the system.

This would be great continuity scheme wise and he seems to be an up and comer. Plus Calabrese is a full blown QB coach as opposed to Coen who was only an assistant QB coach.

Hopefully the interest goes both ways, IMHO this would be a really good hire.

Googled him, a little younger, but his resume looks a lot like Coen's did a year ago. Three years in the NFL at two different teams, and was a college OC at a small time school. Could be a really nice fit, if he is ready for the job.

I saw the Jets in person last season when they played the Colts in Indy. In the second half, the Colts couldn't get off the field as two NYJ QB's combined to throw for 400 yards and these were second and third string guys playing in that game.

I started the Colts DST in fantasy football that week and remember that game well. It was 35-year-old journeyman Josh Johnson carving them up like a Thanksgiving turkey. It's worth noting that the corpse of Joe Flacco had a near 300-yard game later in the season and Mike White (former Hilltopper) had a couple nice games too when Zack Wilson was hurt.

Wilson had a rough rookie year but it's hard to pin that on the coaches. They play in a brutal division. If he got the Coen seal of approval and runs a similar offense, I'm sold.

Those guys are a hot mess on KSR....they had Dan Mullen for pete sake.
Major Applewhite or Brian Brohm, that list had me rolling in the floor

Like the cut of Calabrese jib. High QB coaching background, former college playcaller, knows our scheme. No one has said but is Woodward staying on? Wouldn't be surprised if they knew each other in the past also. Scott can just continue coaching WR & being eyes in the booth as far as I'm concerned.

"However, Calabrese was in charge of Wilson's performance last season. That did not go as planned, as the Jets went 4-13.

To make matters worse, the rookie had nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 13 games, also missing time with injury. Wilson’s struggles were only part of a problem for New York.

Hopefully, if hired, Calabrese can have better luck running a Wildcats team that’s become an up-and-coming program in the SEC compared to how his stint in New York went."

Ouch

Not true. I had it on good authority that we were considering Mike Ditka or Denzel Washington and their names haven't been brought up once by those posers

V Marrow told me that was just a rumor and not true

Denzel would run the veer, we need a little passing attack!

Lol. OK. I missed those names. Would love to have Ditka coach LB's and special teams.

Denzel could be assistant recruiting coordinator.

“Wilson’s struggles were only part of the problem in New York”

Likely not the major part
