RIP Percy Sledge

Cliche, I know, but 'When a Man Loves a Woman' was 'our song' (my wife and I). Not many vocal performances ever can match the emotion in that one. Sing it, Percy, sing it.

You're right, one of the great vocal performances of all time... only the great Otis Redding's "I've been loving you too long" eclipsed it, IMO.

Just saw a video of him singing live - no AutoTune, no lip sync, no flashpots, lasers, etc. Just pure talent and pure soul. Not many left in the music biz these days that can claim that anymore. Unfortunate for people like me who love listening to performers with talent without all the canned drum machines and choreography and props that just confirms for me that the performer needs something distracting to cover up their lack of ability.

Impossible to see a YouTube video RECORDING of someone singing live? You mean all those videos of live performances on YouTube are, in actuality, a figment of my imagination? Wow. Awesome. And accomplished without drugs, too. Even better.
