He took over Spider-Man after Ditko departed and tweaked Spidey and Peters' designs into what most of us grew up with.
On his long run on Amazing Spider-Man, he penciled some of the greatest covers and scenes ever:
And co-created Mary Jane Watson, Robbie Robertson, Captain Stacy, the Kingpin, the Rhino, the Shocker, Hammerhead, and many others (with Lee) and much later, the Hobgoblin (with Stern). He also gave Conway the idea to kill Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Green Goblin.
As Marvel's long-time art director, he's the co-creator of:
Wolverine (with Wein and Thomas)
The Punisher (with Conway and Andru)
Luke Cage, Hero for Hire (with Goodwin, Tuska, and Thomas)
Nova (with Goodwin)
Bullseye (with Wolfman)
Satana (with Thomas)
Brother Voodoo (with Wein and Thomas)
Firestar (with a bunch of TV executives)
And so many more.
RIP, Mr. Romita. So many of your creations are in movie theaters or on streaming services right now, raking in crazy money and making people happy. =)
