RIP Guy Strong

Guy died last week, just shy of 94. (Born in 1930)
I was around him a few times when he was coaching Eastern Ky U.

Checked all the important boxes:
...Man of Faith in Jesus
...Married 64 yrs to his one and only Aleen (not many can say that today)
...Served his country in the Korean War.
...Good man. Class act. Easy to like.
...Fiery competitor who loved basketball and respected the game.

My first taste of college basketball was in Owensboro in the mid-sixties. Guy Strong was the Kentucky Wesleyan coach and won the Div. 2 NCAA National championship in 1966, their first. They beat Southern Illinois 54-51. He led KWC to a 73-30 record in 4 seasons, 1963 to 1967.

RIP, Coach.
