It is easy for me and probably most fans to be cynical re college sports these days. From Jameis Winston to Vanderbilt football players to Rex Chapman and $7M a year coaches and $2K K Fund contributions, etc. Hard to swallow sometimes.

But then you read today's paper about Reggie Meant, and you remember why it is so easy to love the college game. If this kid is not successful at whatever he does in life, it won't be for lack of trying. Really neat story here.

The NFL used to be my true love but it is now college football and has been for many years now. There is a lot wrong with college athletics but not nearly as much as there is with professional sports. Go Big Blue, it is wonderful to see our team heading in the right direction after the Joker years. Don't get me wrong, I think that Joker is one of the classiest people to have ever coached at UK, even more so than Tubby Smith, but he couldn't put a winning team on the field. But we are on an upward trajectory and the sky is the limit in a few years, who knows, I am hoping that we overachieve this year(at least overachieve from what most prognosticators are saying we will do) I am hoping for an 8-4 year myself but I will be happy with a bowl game of any kind.

Heard a story that his coach knew Stoops and wanted him to play for him. Brought him up to UK to visit in a borrowed RV that barely ran, and they slept in it in the parking lot. I am pulling hard for Regie.

This is a great story of a young person with a great work ethic that is seeing rewards for his hard work. I'm so happy that he has that opportunity and he's truly earned it. However, reading this story it also makes me wonder what his outcome would be if he wasn't a superstar athlete. He could be the hardest working person in the room but the fact is he wouldn't be in college if he didn't have an athletic scholarship and that upsets me. This person is willing to put in the effort and even more than what is required but his financial situation only allowed for him to go to college in one way. That's a disservice to his, his families both future and present, and americas future.

Good for Reggie, and I'm happy things are bright for his future. I wish more people had opportunities like this.

I agree but this kid did take advantage of his opportunity when a lot don't.
