Assuming all 5 return, we have 10 players now.

We still need 2 frontcourt players, and hopefully one more sg/sf (if we recruit a starter sf, oweh will play sg. if we recruit a starter sg, oweh will play starter sf. It is also likely we just bring a development piece at wing)

We really can focus on the front court now. Backcourt is basically set imo. Lewis, Johnson, Laland, Perry, Chandler to fill in. That's about all I can hope for. That's top10 good IMO.

Now we focus on the front court and try and get some size. That's kind of a great thing to me, we really get to pivot to one area now..

Expectation is the staff will only accept one more frontcourt piece per TOS. Means they are confident in Garrison

I would love to add Pierre to play the 2 then we could sorta be like Florida this year with Alvaro and garrison. I think Noah and chandler really take a huge step forward next year though, & wonder what the hold up is on Alvaro??? Thought he would commit already but maybe this is the first domino with Lowe.

we need two elite go to guys a big and a guard or 3 if we want to compete for an sec title or a final 4. We need some nba talent or forget it. An im not talking freshman unless they are ready now. To 10 or 5 guys. How pope develops those freshman will be a question mark. You can’t count on having guys multiple years even if they don’t go pro. Once these guys prove themselves then they will demand $$$$

I’m assuming Pierre won’t be the guy. I could be wrong but if we are only adding two guys, one presumably be AF and the other being a “shooter” that is apparently unknown but will be getting NBA feedback, I’d be surprised if it’s Pierre. We will see. I could certainly be wrong

Who is our 2?

One thing I'm seeing is that, unlike this year when we got a bunch of one-and-done 5th year seniors, we seem to be setting up for more continuity. We want to win now - and Pope damn well needs to try to win now - but we might be seeing the construction of a core group that will stay together 2 to 3 years. This coming season we're going to have:

Freshmen: Johnson, Lewis, Moreno
Sophomores: Chandler, Noah, Perry, Williams
Juniors: Garrison, Lowe, Folgueiras?

I still think we need one or two elite level guys to break through to true championship contender, whether it's a top 5 freshman like Duke or a portal transfer who reaches all-america level like Florida or Auburn. I don't see that next year. Our ceiling might be similar to what it was this year, had we stayed healthy. But if we can take that team, return 7 or so guys, THEN add in one or two pieces to take us over the top? Who knows, yet to be seen if Pope is going to land talent at that level. Or if he can just take a bunch of GOOD players and put them together into an elite unit like Sampson has done at Houston. I'm pretty excited to see what can come with a group of top 40 level guys working together in the system for a couple of years, getting coached up to the level our guys this year were but with more athleticism and quickness. I'm a bit worried about the Center position (and obviously we need to land an impact transfer at PF) but maybe Garrison can take a big step in his 3rd year... I hope.

Nice breakdown. I think that continuity is a big and important part of the plan. I hope our fan base will buy in. Patience will pay off.
