Refs don’t think we’re missing enough players

Not a troll at all. Been a fan since the last few Joe B yrs. I just can’t stand the faction of the fanbase that gets on here and bitches and moan about the officials EVERY SINGLE GAME. It’s such a weak ass stance.
So you think it is weak tp point it out no matter how crooked it gets? It's not our fault if you are not smart enough to understand what you are watching.

SEC officials are the worst in basketball.

Most SEC teams learn to play to the SEC officials.

Then when they get in the NCAA they founder because they don’t have the officiating they have learned to play with.

Nothing will be done about it because the SEC doesn’t care.

If it was damaging football they would be all over it.

They are inconsistent at best. The more gambling there is on games the more temptation there will be. Who knows whether this is bad officiating or something more sinister. What I do know is if one coach is really working the refs then the other coach must step up as well.

The refs suck sometimes. You're not better than anybody else because you pretend not to notice it. Eat one.

Ppl miss calls, but the consistency is what's killer. You could have the same crew and the game is called completely different from game to game. Owen shortt and terry oglesby are ass clowns. Oglesby is at best a NAIA ref. Zero feel for the game. The other guy was a wnba ref so go figure...game is too fast for him.

Like Oglesby misses the most obvious push in the back on Amari, which btw, our coach is stationary on the entire other end of the court and can see it yet you're paid to see it and only have to watch 1/3 of the court then when bama gets the ball back you call a fart a foul bc section 2 paragraph 3 stanza 2a says farting while the ball is on the perimeter and the offense player blinks his right eye is a foul. Have some f'n feel for the game.

They really need to dumb the rules down for officials...they'll miss and obvious murder, which okay fine, but then some bizarre a$$ foul that impacts the flow in no way gets called bc technically it's in the rule book.

Also get rid of points of emphasis. It's too complex for these clowns. It's the same thing ever year, they call anything remotely close bc they want to get it, like a cop speeding ticket quota, all the while missing easy stuff all over the court bc theyre so focused on the emphasis. Then they stop calling it...then they'll randomly whip it back our in the ncaa tournament. This year it's fouls on the 3 point shooter not letting them land...they've stopped calling it as close while earlier in the year if you just jumped near a shooter they called it. We'll see it again soon enough tho on something barely there.

I dont know what their thought process is, but to me it's better to miss than it is to call something and it not be there. But above all, none of that matters if you can't be consistent

Since my thread seems to have been removed for I can't imagine why I'll try again. Locked on Kentucky's Lance Dawe had a nice tirade about the ref's on his latest broadcast.

We had 22 fouls.
Bama had 20 fouls.
Oweh fouled out in 22 minutes.
Chandler fouled out in 13 minutes.
Foul distribution was very skewed.
They shot more free-throws because they consistently drove to the basket.

I doubt the officials were targeting Chandler to foul out. And Alabama hit their free throws and we missed too many.

And the officials also fell for sears flopping.

And repeatedly called fouls on us on their drives but refused to do the same on the other end (even when the fouls were excessive).

Oh, and ignoring fouls on our three pointers but repeatedly rewarding theirs for flopping.

The foul on Sears 3 pointer by Oweh was beyond questionable. That ref should be thoroughly investigated.

So you're saying the officiating has been great this season?
No. What I’m saying is it’s childish behavior to bitch and moan about the officiating EVERY SINGLE GAME. EVERY SINGLE YEAR. It’s childish behavior to call it “cheating” or “the league office protecting a number 1 seed”.

No no no. Those refs are crooked and cheating SOBs. Get on board. 🙄

They were fine. Oweh took himself out of the game much more the the refs did.

At some point we have to take accountability for the losses. Missing our two top guys is much more of an excuse than the refs.

This. The excuses here are nauseating. Refs. Superbowl. Opponent coming off loss. SEC toughest league.

From back in 2017. Thought it was interesting, considering his seeming disdain for UK and our coaches.

“DF: This whole John Higgins thing became kind of a national story. What are your thoughts on that whole situation?
TO: I know John very well. I worked my first Division I game with him. He lives in Omaha, so I’ve known him since I started. He’s a really good guy and a really good referee. He’s one of the best in the country obviously. I think it happened to John a little more because he’s so well-known. The other two guys were in the game, but they don't even know who worked with him. They didn’t get the death threats or the phone calls. They just know John because he’s worked a lot of big games. He’s easily recognizable because of his hair and looks or whatever.
DF: Were you shocked it got to that level?
TO: I was. It’s ridiculous honestly. Again, these people think we go out there and try to cheat the other team. That’s just not true. You can go back and watch that game. Was there a call or two that went against Kentucky? Probably. There were probably a couple that went against North Carolina too. When it gets to that point with the death threats, that’s overboard. I talked to John that weekend and his biggest thing was his family. He was of the mindset of — if they want to threaten me, fine, I can take it. He’s got a young kid who is 10 or 12 years old and a wife at home. That would make you think about it.
DF: Have you ever been criticized to that level or even close?
TO: No. I’ve seen stuff on Twitter or seen stuff in the paper about Terry Oglesby gave the worst technical or whatever, but never death threats or person phone calls. But it could happen to anybody. They can find your phone number anytime they want.”

It's a just a consistency thing for me. Don't care how you call it just do it the same way on both ends. Oweh on his drives endures contact and no whistle. Sears falls down anytime he misses a shot or gets near someone. Automatically marched to the line. And the difference between Perrys no foul call on his three verses Sears getting the call exemplifies what I mean. They didn't cost us the game but its not to much to ask to be same calls on both ends however they want to call it. It's very frustrating when your opponent can put hands all over you and you aren't allowed the same.

It’s a fraternity. There’s Vegas. The lack of consistency from game to game. The number of times, like last night, where the score is 1-2 points away from the spread. Tim Donaghy and the NBA scandal (is college basketball somehow immune?). A history of college basketball point shaving.

My biggest pet peeve are the posters on here who criticize those of us who question the officiating. There are games where calls are missed both ways (the ‘17 UNC game was not one of those BTW) and then there are games last night when arguably put two best perimeter defenders each fouled out within 12-13 minutes.

I’m not an attorney but I think there’s enough evidence here to question the sanctity of college basketball officiating. As my children would say, it’s “sus.”

Bingo.

And Higgins wasn’t “targeted bc his hair and he’s recognizable due to reffing big games”. It was bc he was atrocious in every big game with Kentucky over a 5-10 year period and cost us multiple tournament games of F4/Title type teams. UNC 2017 was the breaking point largely bc it was so bad even ESPN was joking at halftime that the refs must have UNC in their bracket pool and there was a rumored halftime phone call for the NCAA to chill out and get it together in the second half

The FBI also verified the “death threats” were non existent and sympathy/smear campaign hoax
