Referee Steven Anderson’s explanation for Garrison’s non call Fragrant 2 review

He might be the worst ref in the SEC. Poole missed a call in the first half when a ball went off ga player leg and he gives it to Ga and they then hit a 3. Don Daley has been bad since he came into the league. We had the three worst refs in the league last night. Had no chance in a road game.

“Because the arm of Garrison was HELD he was just trying to fling the defender off of him”

My question is why wasn’t there a foul called on the Georgia player for HOLDING Garrison’s arm in the first place?
Good question, UGA did this alot, Williams got a foul because a UGA guard grabbed his arm then pulled him down, and they called an offensive foul. I have seen the trick used in the old industrial league play by Kenny Higgs.

sec refs are but far the worst in the land.
interesting thing is with the sec being so dominate this year the whole country will get to view them.
really could be a black eye. already heard one national writer blasting them.
The SEC front office should be embarrassed by what went on last night, maybe in private they are but no one will ever know. I really believe that since it was UK getting the shaft their likely position is no harm no foul.

As to the national media/writers if Duke, KU or most anyone else had been jobbed like that it would have been major news and covered extensively

The SEC front office was THRILLED.
They view the GA win against UK as a bonus to hopefully get another mediocre SEC team in the NCAA playoff.

This is it exactly!!!!

The way you stop it is for UK fans to stop showing up for SEC Tournament games. But our fans are too loyal to miss going and the SEC front office KNOWS this. So they can screw us over how ever they want to get other teams into the NCAA Tournament, and our awesome fans will still keep financing the league by buying up all of the SEC Tournament tickets.

You would think the league would value UK much more like the Big 12 and ACC does for KU, UNC and Duke!! But NOOOOO!!

It’s ridiculous!!!

I still say if those bastards had to face the media, it would help.
Absolutely, with Gambling legal almost everywhere now there should be a law where Refs in every sports are audited by independent counsels and have background checks done periodically. Especially financially to make sure they are not being paid by anyone with ulterior motives to fix games. They should also have to take media questions and games should be reviewed by independent counsels made of former players, refs, etc… I bet we would see a dramatic decrease of games like ours.

Nice clip of last night's robbery

Please post this in its own thread. Seriously, it deserves it. This is the tip of the iceberg last night. The first two are so bad it’s laughable. I was told numerous times last night that butler hit the shooter in the mid section. Nope. The flop from air on second clip looks like a comedy show. The pull down on Williams is hilarious. Slide twenty feet - no problem! Blatant arm bar on Garrison, he deserved it. Choke hold on Carr, it’s just physical play. Good Lord man.

Are they the 3 worst refs, or the 3 most dependable?

The real way to stop it is the school and basketball program need to go to the SEC and remind them who the money maker is in college basketball. More formally, they need to have a discussion about the SEC trying to equal out the wins, simply to get more teams into the tournament. Finally, they need to conduct their own report and findings on this matter and bring it to the executives in the SEC.

There's a lot of things the Athletic department and the school can do here. But it starts with them acknowledging that officiating in the SEC is a problem. Put a little gas on the fire and maybe the SEC will look at changing some of the officials or reviewing their work.

There should have been but it was missed. But they can’t retrospectively call that foul, only can flagrant fouls.
Personally I think the take-down and hold down with the baseline ref staring at it was a worse no-call. That is even called a penalty in football.
