Reed is Forgiven in My Eyes

Yeah. I mean, not shocking there was some blow back, but some folks took that personal, and to a significant extent. Didn’t bother me. He is clearly Blue through and through - that’s not really debatable and if your argument to the contrary consists solely of a tshirt, you have no argument. And I doubt he was just supporting Calipari - Z, Thiero and Wagner are guys he spent a lot of time with. In the end, to each his own.
Okay....okay.

I'm not a Reed hater but he can support his coach and former teammates some other day than when they are playing UK to be seen as UK through and through in my book.

I don't find myself looking for something red on UofL game day despite it being where I got my degree and supported UK the whole while.

In fact, while I might rep the city I never wear a UofL item.

won't be shamed into taking offense that a UK player who family is true UK wore an Arkansas shirt in support of a coach who put his own needs above the program.

what happened in London is a tragedy and thankful that anyone is helping fellow Kentuckians.

but he did what he did, and if it doesn't mean anything to you, then why are you posting Saturday night, Sunday morning on a Kentucky basketball message board (and at the same telling people to get a life/get some perspective)
Because it’s not really about the issue. Those people are just looking for someone to argue with.
People take pride in their College.
Real Sports fans don’t wear their rivals gear.
Reed could have been a faithful Alumni like Charles Barkley and always wore that pride.
Reed didn’t, so he will never be an ambassador for UK in most peoples eyes.
It just is what it is.

That’s nice of him to help his hometown but he’s still a razor back! I don’t hate him but he disrespected Kentucky and I’m a Kentucky fan. It’s not like it was AD or John Wall doing it so it never was that big a deal to me anyway. Oakland babMy,my. It almost like he had freedom or freewill to support to a man he cared about

I've always kept my sports "feelings" separated from real life. I can hate someone as a player in my sports world but love them as a person. I appreciate Reed helping his community and applaud him. But in the world of sports he's a traitor to me and to BBN. I'm just simply not a fan of his when it comes to basketball.
I totally agree. He may be a great person he's a bad player. What did he expect

I'm 78-years-old and to my dying breath I'll never forgive the f'n traitor that Razorback Reed is.

I've actually got in my will that when I pass my body will be injected with a blue dye solution so that way they can literally say that I was buried with blue in my veins. That's how big a fan I am.

I'll be the first person that has ever done that so you'll probably read about it in the news when it happens.

But what about you? You'll probably just die like a regular ole nerd. Loser.
Imagine being on this earth for nearly 8 decades and being this emotionally immature.

Congrats on making being a fan of a sports team your whole life. What an accomplishment.

Never understood comments like this.
" Go touch grass...this guy takes college kids throwing a ball through a hoop too seriously!" Is that why you made an account here? You know the purpose of this forum, right? Everybody here has strong opinions on UK basketball, otherwise they wouldn't be here posting on a UK basketball forum. Kinda dumb to hate on someone for "caring too much" or whatever, just my opinion

I guess I just don’t hate a 19 year old for wearing a T-shirt because…. It ain’t that serious.

I find it even dumber to get this worked up over someone wearing a shirt. I come here to read about the team. I like to talk basketball. I don’t like petty grudges and through several decades of working at it, I don’t take losses personally because, get this, I don’t play or coach, therefore, I cannot affect the outcome in any way.

Oh, so a person that plays basketball at UK has no rights to wear anything else other than UK. Makes sense. Lets put that out there. You do not wear UK tee shirt or jersey and you no longer are allowed in the state you were born.

I have been to UK games wearing LSU gear along with UK gear. I have LSU hats, shirts, shirts, shoes along with all the UK stuff. Does not make me any less a UK fan, does not make me any less a KENTUCKY FAN.

This crappy kinda thought process is just plain ignorant. So if UK beats Oakland it would be OK to wear the Arkansas stuff? Or a kid (he is still a kid), cannot represent his coach (you know they guy that coached him) and wear support for his current team as well. I mean did he wear it during a UK vs Arkansas game? Did he denounce KENTUCKY.? Did he say TM2013 sucks? Did he piss in your cereal so something.

I have not seen one highlight of his NBA career, have not cared what he has done since he left UK. Could not care less.

How about this, did you go down to London/Somerset area and help anyone?

Leave the kid alone. If you do not like him fine. If you do not like him because he wore Arkansas gear after his UK career then get a better argument.

LSU gear is pretty awesome

How’s he a razor back? By wearing an Ark shirt one day to support the coach that helped make him a top-5 NBA pick? He had on UK shorts, so how did he “disrespect” UK?

Some of you folks either need to find other hobbies or learn not to have your emotions led by teenagers.

I don’t think the problem was supporting his old coach or wearing Arky gear. I think it made it worse that it was on game day which anyone can down play it but that was a huge game we were ready to kick Arkys a**. Instead we had Reed wear Arky gear on top of his UK gear and then got absolutely destroyed that game to give them their first league win and start of their tournament run so that made it even worse. Wasn’t personal to me but simply bull crap that he would pull that on game day.
Maybe don’t act like a scorned 8th grade girl after her BF dumped her? Cal gave us all a lot of great memories at UK, and he left ON HIS OWN w/out making us pay him whatever millions of dollars we would have had to pay to buy him out. Reed felt loyalty to both UK and Cal and he wore clothes to show that, and we didn’t have to pay a lot of money the school supposedly didn’t have.

Not sure how that is a loss for any of us. Well, outside of said scorned 8th grade dumped girls.
