I can understand a basketball recruit checking out a football game if they are in town for a visit, but to base the entire visit on it? Why?

Michigan State fans have shoved that weekend they had Bridges down our throats. The greatest weekend in the history of MSU sports, and it's all centered around football.

Why the fvck would Miles Bridges care about the football program? He is a basketball player. If they get him to commit based off of football then more power to them.

If you are a basketball recruit, you should make your decision based on the basketball program.

The same reason our football coaches bring their recruits to basketball games.

Recruits (across all sports) want to see the passion of the fans and feel what the environment is like, whether they play football or basketball or skeeball.

I can see that, but at the same time that could be misleading. If you are a basketball recruit attending an Alabama football game then you might be a little disappointed to find out that the fan base doesn't know there is any sport besides football.

Full disclosure, MSU alum here. It wasn't just a football game. It was a full recruiting weekend event that allowed MSU to really show it's best attributes. Yes it was centered around football, because there was a big football game going on. This is no different than your Stoops bringing in football recruits on weekends of major college basketball games to take advantage of the atmosphere. Izzo and staff was smart enough to take advantage of the magnitude of the football game to and schedule a lot of basketball recruiting events coordinated with the football game.
