As I'm getting settled in my hotel room on a business trip, I stumbled upon Coach Cal's 30 For 30 - One-And-Not-Done on ESPNU. Wow, a lot of great memories were brought back and Cal's story is really inspiring. It also reminds me of how quick a fan base can turn on their own.

I've doubted Cal's ability to draw-up plays, some of the things he has said at post-game interviews, not playing a certain player as much as I think he should have played, but I've never doubted his passion. I know he cares a lot and am confident he isn't sitting on his rear playing with the dogs.

Cal has a plan, even though we may not see that yet, and this year's roster will fill out very soon. Let's be patient and let the offseason unfold. Personally, I am very excited for this year! Go Big Blue!

LOL ! It was a TV show . Guess that’s all it takes to get some people “fired up” . LOL

I was "fired up" before that, but good try. How dare some fans be positive and not be angry at another man that they don't know or has no control over.
Then I’d say it doesn’t take much for you to be “fired up” . We are not going to have much success as long as Calipari is still coaching here . You might as well accept it.

"One and Not Done" was the title of the 30 for 30. It's ironic now, given that he'll never win a second title here. Thus, he won one, and he's actually done.

I think it's groovy that you're optimistic. If this were a zombie apocalypse script, you'd be the priest character who clings to hope, even as the colony members' brains are being eaten out all around you.

That came out like 7 years ago. You're on your way to Uncle Rico.

Cals passion was taken when he was given a lifetime deal.

That show was 6 years ago. Calipari has been in a steady decline ever since Wisky/2015. That show caught him just before things started to really go wrong.
The records speak volumes and aren't biased one way or the other. Whatever mojo Calipari once had, is now gone.
Two things happened. One, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He and Pitino's mutual friend, Sonny Vaccaro? He said it would affect Cal because he was no longer "chasing the ghost", meaning Pitino.

The second thing was everything unraveling at I of L and Pitino leaving. Cal just doesn't seem as driven to win big. He not only caught the ghost but the ghost up and left.

How is that bashing? He simply asked you to account for one thing.
It seems that folks think you are a "negative nancy" or "hatin'" or "bashing" if you try to be critical of something that you love... In this case Kentucky sports (Basketball in particular). I would say you care more if you are actually criticizing something or someone you care about because you are looking to find out what the reason is we have absolutely SUCKED lately.

I have to say your passion and trust are great and is what is needed today, but sadly the majority of the fan base has stoped watching that show.
I truly wish I could share your thoughts and opinion but it just isn’t there anymore.

Besides, getting excited about what I see on TV these days does not happen.
Trusting in what I see in the media these days is long gone.
Walter Cronkite is not walking thru any doors anytime soon.
I just don’t think anyone goes on a TV show trying not to look like Jesus. There just isn’t any honesty left.
Maybe when Cal got to UK his mindset was what you saw in that show, but today he is not that coach.
I always look at sports in a way it mirrors real everyday life. I see a basketball program at a crossroads just like our great country is at; we either right this ship now or we will be facing some difficult times ahead.

Yeah , that was when WWW was a “friend of the program “ .

What was Cal's plan with the Sharpe situation?
His plan was to take a gamble to get an ultra talented player and hope it worked out. It didn't.

Too bad you weren't on his staff to let him know how it would go.

Where would he have gone if Cal didn't take him? What if he had played there? People would bash him for not landing Sharpe.

But by all means let's keep bringing it up every thread.

Bring all the bashing and anything negative you can think of, I'm still excited for Kentucky Basketball and still have faith in Cal. I am also confident that our roster shakes out accordingly. Call me crazy all you want.
Well you asked for it

“You’re crazy if you believe what Cal is doing is going to work “

Assume for a second cal still has that passion it doesn’t change the fact he can’t coach for shit. It would take a dream team type roster for cal to win another title and I honestly believe he would somehow screw that up too. He already lost the easiest title there ever was in 2015 with the most talented and balanced roster college has seen since 1996.

Yeah , that was when WWW was a “friend of the program “ .
Right?

Every day that passes proves more clearly: The “Cal” that we loved was a brand, not a person. WWW recruiting, John Robic doing all the game planning and probably a lot more that he doesn’t get credit for, Rod Strickland, Kenny Payne, and who knows who else handling player development. (Some of that was Coach O to be sure, but apparently not nearly as much as we had hoped).

John Calipari was the non-instrument-playing front man for that band. Now everyone’s quit on him and he’s hired his relatives, some of whom were in Band in high school. He’s had surgery a few times on his vocal chords and has also been busted a time or two for lip-syncing.

It’s like if Led Zeppelin had stuck around through the ages after John Bonham died, fired Jimmy Page, and just turned into Robert Plant doing Debbie Gibson covers with auto-tune.

If I kept going to their concerts and buying T-shirts, trashing all my friends who said they’d changed, would that mean I was the last real Led Zeppelin fan?

Of course not. It would mean I was a shallow crowd follower who never appreciated what Zeppelin had really achieved in the first place, and that was the reason I never noticed the difference.

For crying out loud. Cal ALLOWED him to use the program and sit on the bench all year. He should have been told to suit up or walk. That is 100% on Calipari.

I get that fans are panicking but there's so much speculation and un warranted bashing. As usual everyone is speaking based on emotion and speculation.. I doubt we get any of the 3 back. If we get any of the 3 it will be awesome. The only thing I know for sure is we will add 3 players to this roster at least. Once that's done then it's time to evaluate this off season. If Cal can't put together a winning roster he'll be gone. It's really that simple.

I would absolutely LOVE for a reporter to show Cal his welcome speech when he was hired at UK and the speech he gave at the first Big Blue Madness he did and then ask Cal what happened to that person.

Because watching those speeches now is NOTHING like what we've seen out of him for the last several/many years. It's like it's a completely different person.

The same old, hackneyed, weak arguments the Calbois used for months while the rest of us were warning the fanbase that Sharpe wouldn't play. Keep flogging that chicken, son.

Weirdest....metaphor usage...ever

The OP is being sarcastic right ? If not this isn’t like we are Alabama fans bashing Nick Saban after not winning a title for two years but still being very good .

Damn a National Title we haven’t even been able to win the SEC lately regular season or tournament
