Saw Boyle beat my Redhounds last night. Both teams are equal except Boyle had Quisenberry. I had not seen this kid play but wow he a special talent. He only a 16 year old Sophomore and only going to get better and better with age. I can see why UK after him and why you going to see a lot more Power 5 schools visiting to see him. Hope UK can get him he looks like he can be another Wandale Robinson but faster.

Yeah, I wonder if he actually lives in Boyle County. Freddie Maggard and Dave Baker did the radio and they were out of their minds over the talent and quality of Boyle and Corbin. I don't think I care for high schools being able to recruit out of area players (non-residents as they call them). That isn't as easy for mountain schools as it is for central Kentucky schools. I'm not sure when KHSAA started allowing this but I don't think it's good for the game. The number of D1 and P5 level players coming out of Boyle, a school with 850 students, is mindboggling.

Looked it up, Quisenberry is from Garrard County as is another of their better players.

It was one of the best high school games I have seen played in years. Both sides played clean, hard and talent all over the field on both sides. But Boyle had more talent and always will they have a Power House setup in Central KY.

You guys are gonna love big Tommy Z. That kid was not going to let Boyle lose last night

And yes, Stoops needs to do all he can to keep Quisenberry home. Kid is a special talent.
Yes Tommy impressed me also. Just a hard nose player that I will enjoy watching at UK

Catholic schools been doing it for 100 years.

Watched them play Lex Cath the first time. Qberry has another gear and can cut on a dime. Would like to see him in blue for sure. Not sure what position Zeismer will play at the next position but the kid was all over the field defensively.

You are right Quisenberry's cuts are amazing. And he never slows it seems when he cuts

Awkward delivery but he’d a a plus for the BatCats

Kid will be a star for sure and hope he ends up a Wildcat. Watch the name Braxton Jennings from Ashland a sophomore RB. The kid has all the intangibles to be a major D1 player. His Dad Chris played at Fairview, then Arizona in College and the Browns, Jets in the NFL.

Do you actually live in GA?
If so, you know that every top football school in the south recruits the best players for their programs. Even pay them to attend. And the private schools put the best players on scholarship and board them to get them on campus.
This has actually improved the talent level in these schools. Best against best. Amazing how much talent is assembled on these schools that recruit the best players.

kY is just now trying to catch up with other southern states where football is concerned.

Get used to it. New world.

Let me fix this for you

Schools been doing it for 100 years!

Also what’s so bad about parents choosing what’s best for their kids.
Nothing but in the old days kids may be "recruited" but they had to move to the school district. Not so now. It creates an uneven playing field. If the parents want their kid to go to a certain school, fine, move there.

I know, I'm just old and don't like it. We don't have any powerhouse programs around here so I don't see it. Is what it is though.

Not sure but I guess LBer. I think he might could be edge rusher. Maybe a Boyle county guy can gives us more info on him
Yeah. They list him as an Edge but only being 6'2" will make that tough. Kid is a player though.

Remember talking to some Boyle people one time and what all the community does for their players and how much work the players are required to put into the program. Would say the majority of the communities don't care as much and sure that most programs don't require the work year around from the players like they do at programs like that. Get the right leader/s and coach any program can rise up way above where they are at now. Matter of caring and work. Then you can draw a player here and there from other programs. No fluke that Boyle, Corbin and Beechwood's of the world are there every year. Have to get all in serious from first grade on.

Corbin has done this for 50 years also. Boyle just has a larger pool to draw from. Most of the Redhounds best players last night came from other school districts in the area.

So ALL of the most successful HS programs do this.

Not all, Mayfield, there's nowhere to recruit from.

So are you saying that EVERY player that contributes on Mayfield's team is from Mayfield school district originally?

I HIGHLY doubt it. But if true, that makes their success even MORE impressive.

As I said earlier, high school "recruiting" has always gone on but it used to require the family to move to the new school district. I'd have to check up on the claim that "most" of Corbin's best are from other school districts. I find that hard to believe.

I'm nearly 50 and those schools in that area have had an allocated number of slots for open enrollment policy for decades where you can live outside the district and attend but pay a fee to go since the student is 'outside the tax base'. Back then it was Danville that got the two or three kids from the surrounding schools. I think the thing that has changed in these current times is more kids/families are willing to make it work from a further distance than they used to....used to be just stick with where you're at cuz who would move to play a sport? But sports have become big time business and it all trickles down to kids feeling like they have more at stake, etc. But the world as a whole just becomes more and more transient every day in life outside of sports too.

...work and money invested. Not every district will have that, but it's the way of the world.

Why does anyone care?

Why should the parents/family move? If they're paying taxes to a different district, why would that district want them to leave? It makes no sense.

Private schools and public schools did this when I played football as a kid 50 years ago. With fewer schools being able to afford sports and that getting worse going forward, they need to sell tickets and sponsorships, just like any other team. If inflation continues to skyrocket, counties are going to have to consolidate schools or sports programs at some point to keep playing.

It sucks when your school can't afford to do it, but it's been done in HS football for a long long time

Well, for one thing, the taxes should be paid in the county where the kid goes to school. The taxpayers of that schools county should care. You can say it however you like, I just don't like it.

This did not exist 40 years ago at Corbin though we were accused of recruiting players. High school sports aren't supposed to be like this. Its terribly unfair to the districts kids leave to play on a higher profile team.

Boyle County is good bc the entire community is involved...as soon as kids are old enough to stand they start wanting to be apart of Boyle football. They enter the system then. Chick Smith built a powerhouse. Name all the top players to come out of there and they're from there.

Garrard is a county over.

As far as the mountains...checks notes...Cordia basketball. And if you count London as the mountains lol south and north both at one time were bringing in kids from all over. Remember when North had a gaurd from Australia who played at Arizona and South had a gaurd from Miami who played at notre dame.

Ppl can cry all they want but that area- danville through Harrodsburg puts kids out

This is the way it is now. I don't like it either, but it's not just happening at Boyle. All the teams have kids that are from somewhere else. Corbin included.

Think at this level it’s better to look at from the kids perspective and what benefits the kid most.

Would this thread even exist if the kid just finished his season w a 3-8 Garrard Co? Maybe, but way less hype I’d guess. And not a knock on GC. Have family around there, great area but uber talented kids should be able to showcase those talents imo.

At least until they’re 18, can we actually make it about what’s best for the the kids? It’s not just happening in sports. It happens with academics too.

Imo end of the day, it has a bigger impact on a kids life than it does a HS having another trophy in the case to collect dust.

Avery Bodner was MVP and he's lived in Boyle his whole life but don't let facts get in the way.
