Saw him play a lot of snaps in Manning's spot at RG. OL was not good today but thought he played as well or better than all the others. Seems like we ran more effectively at his gaps than anywhere else and didn't see a complete whiff like many others. Anyone else notice him?

We run wide zone, Not as simple as running just left and right, one the reason why we could not run to left was side losing on Rt and vice versa

Part of the SAC issue today at least on 2 of the SAC was Levis hopping around and not making a decision to either throw it away or just a second earlier take off and get that 3 to 5 yard gain. It is not just a OLINE issue. All are getting used to playing together and not all have been available for all games. Our 2 backs are trying hard but there is a reason that TROB has been put back there on a few plays. 29 Wright is too slow in decision making and is also second guessing himself. Give him another few weeks and he will have that light bulb moment. CROD might not get 150 yards a game with this team but he will get 2 to 4 yards on a lot of these 2 yard loss downs. Get all the guys together after next week and then lets see how we roll. If we still cannot move the ball at all except through the air then we can start to worry. Just hope CROD is not rusty and have a case of the yips.

I don't know if it is that easy. When you get the ball and Horsey (doing as best he can) can't generate a push and Burton...he simply gets beat a good bit....I don't think it's Wright and Smoke not hitting the hole fast enough. The left side is just having dudes in the backfield a ton...and CRod isn't alone going to fix that problem.

We could not run to the left at all today. Is Burton just not ready or is Horsey still not 100% and/or just not a good LT?
All of the above I think. I'm not a expert at OL technique but it was clear to me that not only did they totally miss assignments but at times they didn't work with each other well. I saw one twist where Horsey let his guy go underneath and he let him do that almost completely untouched. The DL twisted and ended up getting on Cox before Cox was even set. He almost lifted Cox off the ground. Totally blew him up. I'm not an expert on OL technique but I'm pretty sure that Horsey had some responsibility there hold him for a second to break up his momentum and give Cox a chance at getting set. Again I don't know OL play well but I'm pretty sure they would have some responsibility on how they pass the twists off. I know on defense when back release for a pass we were told to give them a shot so the back can't get into the route before the DB gets there. I'm pretty sure the same is true for OL. Bottom line is these guys aren't helping each other out very well.

Nothing easy about that. It will take a couple of games after getting 100% of our office back. It is not easy to get everyone on the same page. if it was then every NFL team would have unstoppable ground games. All those guys are the best of the best out of College. It takes all 11 to complete the best play be in on the ground or in the air. If 1 guys misses an assignment then it can make the entire unit look bad. OLINE is an issue but they are not alone. That was my whole point.

Have not studied film yet, but a couple of casual thoughts in real life. Our OL are not not getting angles on their blocks. We are tying up head on, lanes not being created. Is it a lack of quickness, strength or drive? One reason Smoke is getting some yards around the ends. Rodriguez cannot run wide like that so thinking he is going to create lanes is false. The OL has to get better at their job, even a CR would have trouble with the job they are doing now. The South Florida game last night would be a good example of what talking about. Their OL was getting the right angles a lot of times, and they had the strength and quickness, to knock the DL sideways to create those lanes.

Our pass blocking not bad, but man Flax bothers me the way he is on his heals sometimes getting pushed back. He is not the brawler Kinnard was or have his quickness. The defender that is half his size is getting his hands high on him, bending him back. Do the swim move and dislocate arms if you have to! And the right side is not athletic or fast enough to get to the second level like we are used to. The left side is lighter than we are used to so not sure yet how much the lack of bulk is effecting that side. If they can't get angles then driving people in the SEC is not going to be easy.

At times almost wish we would have just went ahead with Goodwin at LT and let him learn on the fly. But now with SEC schedule fixing to hit hard not sure we can afford to start from scratch there. Would like to see Young get some good time this week to see what he looks like. Overall, concerned with lack of athletic ability and quickness on the right side and lack of driving ability on the left side. Hopefully the coaches can get them better at getting angles on their blocks if they aren't big or strong enough on their driving ability.

Athletic ability is compromised when you can't recognize what is happening. They'll look faster when they recognize things quicker. I'd really like to not see them running by defensive players on their way to the backfield though.
