First off…yes I’m an FSU fan and graduate, but I come here in peace. My daughter has verbally committed to the University of Kentucky and we will be taking an unofficial visit to Lexington this weekend for the Missouri game. We can’t wait. We love the University and the Lexington area. Can you guys give me some good ideas on restaurants and things to do while in Lexington.

Welcome to Lexington. No hate toward FSU here - you sent us Stoops!
Here's a link to a similar thread started by a Missouri fan: http://kentucky.forums.rivals.com/threads/first-trip-to-lexington.116663/

As far as restaurants, I no longer live in Kentucky so I am not as familiar as some of the locals on here. Lexington does seem to have a growing restaurant scene, though. One of my favorites is a little Cajun dive in the Chevy Chase area called Bourbon & Toulouse.

Have fun and good luck to your daughter. Looks like it could be some great weather for the game!

No longer live in Lex but when visiting I always go to Ramsey's (try the hot brown for a traditional KY meal). Merrick Inn, Joe Bologna's also good for dinner. Spalding's doughnuts a good 'guilty pleasure' for breakfast.

If you haven't visited Keeneland before, I would highly recommend as it is a beautiful, special place.

Have fun!

Eat downtown or on Jefferson for "adult food", kind of pricey though. The new area off of Manchester Street next to McConnells Spring is cool, called Middle Fork, I think, and lots of young people hang out there. Several bars and a restaurant or two serving local food.

My wife and I went to a nice restaurant in a Lex hotel for breakfast the day after the ULL game. We were discussing the restaurant scene with our waiter. He recommended that we try Middle Fork and the ice cream shop, Crank & Boom.

Is this for soccer Clay.

There's a great BBQ place in Georgetown...can't remember the name of it. I remember Peach Cobbler with Chocolate bourbon ice cream though....

Congrats to your daughter!

For steaks I love Raffertys classic marinated rib eye or Malones , for stuff near the Kennedy bookstore near campus The Local Taco has a buffalo chicken taco worth the try , the place was on secrets of the Bluegrass Chefs .

www.visitlex.com has good details. I recommend you stay downtown at one of the hotels: Hyatt, Hilton or Gratz Park Inn and then partake in the many FANTASTIC restaurants downtown. Hands down the BEST and most expensive (but worth it) restaurant is Tony's at The Square. It is fantastic. The bar side has a cheaper menu too. Also, Shakespeare for Breakfast is a good choice. Dudleys on Short has a beautiful roof top garden. Distilled in Gratz Park has wonderful high end local cuisine. You can't go wrong at most any place on Short Street or Jefferson Street. For more local flare, eating at Stella's Diner is a must. Also check out County Club (rated best new restaurant by Conde Naste in 2014) Finally, Lexington has many great local breweries....I highly recommend West Sixth Brewery, as it also has food. All of these places can be accessed by taking the *****FREE***** downtown trolley. Trolley stops are all over and run every 20 min! Enjoy
