Are you John Calipari fans, Mitch Barnhart haters, Pope haters, or is John Calipari and what he does live rent free in your head?????

He did outstanding for a long time, then he didn't for quite a while. He left. HE LEFT...not fired. The players left...their schooling weren't taken.

Pope is the coach. Next 3 to 5 years will show if he stays the coach.

Cal left and I'm glad he did. Pitino left on his own as well. Not a fan of either.

I'm very hopeful Coach Pope has a great run at UK. Pitino could have stayed at UK for many more years and likely had a terrific run. He chose to leave. The going to UofL was a bit much for me.

Cal knew he needed to leave. His performances were not good. I'm not upset he left at all.

Barnhart seems like he's worn out his welcome. I don't know enough about ADs but it seems like he's not the best guy for the job right now.

Pope, love him. Thinks he's exception. The positives have so far outweighed the very very few negatives and even those are nitpicky. I think I just want to see a little bit more in the way of recruiting. But I honestly wouldn't trade him for anyone right now.

Cal, want him to lose every game. But I weirdly don't hate him. I think it was just time. He grew weary of the fanbase and Kentucky media/program, and we grew tired of his antics and pitfalls. He's not a great strategy coach, but he's a fantastic players coach and motivator. I always admired those things about him. He kind or carved his own path, and I think if the NCAA didn't hate him so much (while protecting Duke and UNC and Kansas) he'd have another title or two.

Barnhart - loathe, he’s awful (I may or may not have worked for him)

Calipari - love what he did here but it was time for him to leave

Pope - Mitch crushed the hire (as hard as that is for me to admit)
How do we know he crushed it? Pope is a total unproven and I saw two teams with pitino and Cals who played harder than this team has all year. I want who ever our coach is to be extremely successful. We have hired one unknown and it was awful. So Barney decided to try it again but this time hire a former player and force fans to give him 3 years as you say. We don’t know what the standard is for pope to continue on after 3 years. 3 wins in the ncaa would probably be fine with Barney. Meanwhile I’m losing family left and right. My health hasn’t been great and I’d like to share a title with my son. I know we’ve lost posters and all kinds of fans who shouldn’t have to endure a total reboot with a 5 year plan if that’s what it is.

I don’t mind Calipari still having success…truly impartial. The only coach/team I’m emotionally invested in is UK! Go Cats!

Seems like you’re making a statement, not asking a question.

Your issues with Barnhart sound personal, which has nothing to do with how good an AD he is. I think by most accounts, he’s pretty good. It’s odd how fan bases want to lay blame at the feet of the athletic director for various failures. Sometimes (say a bad hire) it’s the AD who’s at fault. Other times it has nothing to do with him.

Who do you want as AD? Specific name?
Hiring an AD is easy and it needs to be a UK guy. The entire admin at UK it’s time to refresh. President is an Alabama grad, AD nothing to do with the state prior. The average is3- 5 years for an AD as they usually move up or lateral. 20+ years is way too long and a large part of his early success was timing. Club sports gave way to more competitive collegiate programs. Non fb non bb sports.

I try not to think of him. It gets brought up here a bunch and sometimes I respond.

Glad he left, said it many times, I did not want him here to begin with. If he was to win 5 NCAA's in a row with Arkansas I would feel the same way, GLAD he is not here.

I did watch his game today and his guys outplayed St John's. Cal did not have to get in his own way coaching.

I asked you for a specific name. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for right? You’ve been on the Farrrr Pope, Farrrr Mitch grind and it is hard work everyday. I’m ready to join your squad. Just tell me which AD we hiring

Yes, very personal. Calipari saved his job, and then he attempted to micro-manage him (just as he does everyone in the department) for a number of years. He’s the worst.

Cal completely sucked at the end but I didn't want him to leave cause there's never gonna be a coach like him ever again. Now we aren't as unique with him not here anymore.

I'm rooting for Pope hard

I’ll throw out my stance on UK related people.

Cal: Hate him. Hope he never wins another game in his life and spends the next decade as miserable as he made people around UK. He needed firing in 2020 at the latest.

Mitch: Strongly dislike, needing firing years ago

Pope: Love the guy, like the coach. Still not sold that he can win a title here.

Stoops: ehh, but he should have been fired this year. Absolutely CANT be here past this next season.

I actually think it's fair to have animosity toward Mitch.

I also think people WANTED Cal to change stripes and continue at Kentucky. But not at the pace he was going.

Nobody here dislikes Pope. Pope is great. He has reinvigorated the fan base. But this is Kentucky. RESULTS matter. And as long as Calipari still coaches in the SEC, the results for Pope vs Calipari will always be compared. Just like Calipari vs Pitino was always compared.
