This is a really weird situation all around to me. Dude was a 4 star out of HS but is walking on? Weird. I saw the reason for the transfer was the coach made a joke about him in a presser.
4 star walk-on...8 years ago he would've been one of our main guys.
One of the coaches basically mocked him when asked if he would have used Deuce if the other two QBs were not available.
Is Ferentz Jr. serving as QB coach as well as OC? Let's face it... they don't appear to be developing QBs very well... sort of like another L10 program that's gifted us QB talent.
No, Ken O'Keefe is their QB coach. Although having Ferentz's son as OC can't help. I know Iowa fans want him gone but nepotism keeps him his job.
I can’t see any scenario in which he plays for us. We’ll take the depth though.

It’s simply untrue. Hogan is not good and couldn’t beat out two other average QBs and true frosh Labas most likely already had passed him. He supposedly was looking to transfer since mid season. The joke by Ferentz (very out of character) is just a convenient excuse.
Good luck to him. He certainly won’t be missed.
Kinda puzzling to me also . If Bea Allen doesn’t show enough to give the staff confidence to take over for Will then they will bring in someone a lot better than this guy . By the time Will leaves next year there will be plenty of quarterbacks wanting to transfer here .
If he’s not taking a scholarship, no harm in taking him for depth.

If he's walking on then this is a win-win situation. If he sucks, then you're not wasting a scholarship on him, and if he proves to be better than the typical Iowa QB then bump him up to a scholarship. Never hurts to have a 4* as walk-ons.
This is a gift. It doesn't cost us a scholly, we shouldn't look a gift horse the mouth. Who know what this guy might develop into? Anyway ideally you would want whoever is taking Levis's place to be on the roster this year so he can learn and practice the offense. Coen must have seen something he liked.
If he's playing Levis, Allen, and Sheron better be out with chicken pox or something :lol:
How did he stay awake watching Iowa football games? I’d contemplate suicide if I had to watch Iowa play other B1G teams at noon every Saturday.
Iowa fan here... from the outside looking in, it might just be a little vindictive and "salt in the wound" type reaction from the family.

What's true is anything can get you in the Ferentz doghouse. Just because he didn't play doesn't mean squat.
He could be light years ahead of the other qbs at Iowa and never see the field.

After seeing your starting QB then this guy must either be horrible or your QB coach needs to look for other possibilities you don't get 4 stars just because mama says so

I think people are reading way too much into a transfer...
It's the era of transfer for crying out loud. Thank goodness for UK because our program has been turned around by transfers...SJ, Boom, Terry, Wandale, Levis...
We've also seen kids roll out too...even stranger than a backup rolling out is a starter rolling out...Patty Ice...Terry...
He's walking on, will probably RS so he's not threatening anyone's playing time right now.
