I think we’re 10 deep at least early on. It may cut down late. But Jasper is gonna play a ton of mins as is Kam, Dioubante and Garrison unless MM surprises everyone and comes in. Gets strong af and wows everyone. I think he’ll have some big games. But I don’t think he’ll play many mins tbh. Dioubante could be a true breakout player. He killed it at Bama while playing few mins. Lowe was a good player on a bad team. He tried to do too much. Leading to poor shot selection and poor shooting %. Hes better than that. That’ll improve Having better players around him. Better system fit. Less ask of him he’ll be getting alot of wide open shots instead of trying to do too much. Which obviously will lead to better shot selection and higher shooting %. Plus he’s honestly an upgrade over Butler fr. Hes bigger. Stronger. More athletic. He can drive and get into the lane and finish. Get fouled or kick out to a shooter and he’s fast af with the ball. Kids a future NBA player. Speaking of future NBA player. I’m loving Kam. He’ll have some big games. 6’8 with a that kind of shot. lol. Yeah. Bros Were loaded.

I don't see Jelavic as a starter. Here's my pre-JQ returning linuep...

PG: Lowe
SG: Wilkerson (JJ, Wilkerson and Lowe will get majority of the 1/2 minutes)
SF: Oweh
PF Dioubate or Williams
C: Garrison

Post-JQ returning lineup...

PG: Lowe
SG: Wilkerson
SF: Oweh
PF: Garrison
C: JQ

I'm thinking

Lowe
Wilkerson
Oweh
Dioubate and maybe I'll be able to pronounce his name by then
JQ

I could definitely see Jelavic sliding into the starting spot but that there is my best guess of the probability.

This is after things really get rolling. JQ we'll have to see if he can start the season. We'll see what Pope does but if it were me I'd use Garrison as the four early in the season because of his experience with us, then switch to Dioubate or some tinkering mix of Dioubate and Jelavic. Garrison has great strength and is a good jack of all trades, but I don't think we are at our ceiling if he's starting. If JQ can't start in November then I think you obviously play Garrison at the 5 till he can.

I like to look at it from a platoon stand point

PG: Lowe
SG: Wilkerson
SF: Oweh
PF: Dioubate
C: BG

PG: Jasper
SG: Chandler
SF: Kam
PF: Jelavic
C: JQ

G: Perry
F: Noah
C: Moreno

Gotta go
pg- Lowe jr 6-3 175
sg- Wilkerson sr 6-5 205
sf- Oweh sr 6-5 215
pf- Dioubate jr 6-7 215
c- Garrison jr 6-11 250

That’s the most balanced experienced starters we could throw out there to start a game.

pg- Johnson fr 6-4 180/Perry so 6-1 188
sg- Chandler so 6-5 202
sf- Williams so 6-8 190/Noah so 6-5 220
pf- Jelavic fr 6-11 220
c- Quantaince so 6-9 230/Moreno fr 7-0 235

And that’s a pretty damn decent bench for any team in the nation. Talent, athleticism, some experience and depth at every position.

Starters

G Lowe
G Oweh
G Wilkerson
F Dioubate
F Garrison

Reserves

G Johnson
G Chandler
G Williams
F Jelavic
F Quaintance (once cleared)

Bench

G Perry
F Noah
C Moreno

The more I think about it, the more I think Garrison remains the starter at the 5, even when Quaintance is healthy. It could be deep into the season by then and for the sake of continuity, it might be better to just bring JQ off the bench. All three will get similar minutes. Start the two Juniors and bring the Sophomore and Freshman off the bench.

So I figure we will start two Seniors and three Juniors. Then bring three Sophomores and two Freshmen off the bench for a 10-man rotation. All 10 will likely get double digit minutes, IMHO.

I've no idea who will start, so I won't even take a stab at it. However, I do know that starting positions will no longer be doled out based on the number of stars by your name, your NBA aspirations, or a promise made to your daddy.

What a bad thread now. Wilkerson just missed the one chance of a life time.

So with Wilkerson out I’m going with Johnson as the starter at 2g.

Lowe
Johnson
Oweh
Dauibata
Garrison

Perry
Chandler
Williams/Noah
Jelavic
Quantiance/Moreno

I have no doubt Pope will add another guard like a Wilkerson to the roster a 6-4/5 200/205 shooter.

I'm starting to like the idea of Kam playing more 4 over Diaboute until JQ is back. He can rebound, and stretches the floor with his shooting. Being able to drain the 3 at 4 really opens the offense.
