Prevent Defense on 3rd and 18

Prevent defense…=prevent yourself from winning
Stoops scared to death to bring a blitz. Rushed three.
Stoops should have left because next year is going to be unkind to him after losing this one
Prevent defense usually stands for preventing a win.
Sickening. Typical play scared.
How could it have been any worse if we had actually played defense? Ignorance
Any other team in the nation could have gotten that stop. Two freaking 3rd and longs given up because Brad White can't comprehend prevent defense sucks in those situations.
Why Stoops can’t win at crunch time and good not great coaches do.. Rushing 3 says we give up, go ahead and beat us.
He blew it. Was some garbage defense he acted like the game was over

Rush 3 , next play blitz two. - mix it up so qb does not see the same defense every play.
But Stoops, a defensive guru for 35 years has yet to figure it out!

The man is making premium money for mediocre performance. No big program wants him.
Stoops has the best job in America. He’s paid like he’s actually a good coach but he’s a complete and utter failure. The guy can’t leave soon enough
It’s idiotic. This isn’t a 3rd and 18 in the flow of the game where preventing an 18 yard pickup results in a punt.
You know they are going for it on 4th….you have to play it as if it’s a 3rd and 8.
Rush 4 at minimum so they double Walker and everyone else has a 1v1…. Maybe even delay blitz a LB once the O line engages the 4 down rushers and force the QB to make a quick decision before the receiver get 10+ yards down the field. The secondary had played well and Clemson doesn’t have a huge deep threat

Stoops IS playing 35 year old football, both sides of the ball.
The team on the field today was adequate the coaches sucked

Even more frustrating is Stoops/White are watching the zone get carved up and continue to play soft. Were they watching a different game than the rest of us?
And like EliteBlue said, they were going to go for it on 4th down. So even if we played It perfectly, they would have had 4th and short .
Absolute idiocy, yes Leary's multiple turnovers hurt us but we came back from it. Brad White and Mark Stoops lost this by doing what hadn't worked all game. We pummeled their QB and had him limping, he made bad throws under pressure. Just horrible coaching decisions.
For all the good Stoops and White has done, they constantly crap the bed in crunch time. We had a quarter of our yearly sack total today but we go away from what's working. Elite teams don't do that. It's why they're good year in and year out. Those piss poor late game calls we always seem to have would get you shown the door at most schools. I'm not saying I want Stoops or White gone, but this has gone on too much over the past few seasons to be a new problem. Stoops and Co. need to take a long look in the mirror during the offseason.
That ending is bothersome. Perhaps more upsetting than any other loss of the season.
I mean it was like a complete lack of situational awareness and understanding of what was going on.
Clemson got the ball with plenty of time on the clock and all their time outs. It wasn't hail marry time. They could literally still use all, or most, of their playbook.
They weren't in a position where they needed to go deep in a hurry.
Even the last play and go-ahead score. Again, not a desperation must pass situation. Infact you almost have to assume run there. It was first and goal, enough time on clock for 2 plays and they had a time out.
Then, just the general lack of going for it. The staff didn't want to go get the win via aggressive D... they just wanted the game to end.
Usually that's the case with the offense, but today we saw that it's not an offensive thing, I think it's a CMS staff, philosophy, dna, etc...
Don't go get the win...let's just white knuckle it and pray the game ends with the score board looking exactly like it does now.
