Now if Kentucky doesn’t hit a home run in this hire, we won’t have the success in the portal. We just don’t have the NIL funds to compete well.

Expecting anyone to come in and completely rebuild a roster and get UK back to the top of the SEC in year one is not reasonable.

Cal has got the program in such bad shape, even he wants to get away from it. But here we are and it is ugly.

I honestly think Oats, Hurley, Drew or Pearl would all have us in a very good spot year 1. All are excellent recruiters, have connections everywhere and have plenty of PT to offer the best transfers.

I get what you are saying but ask yourself this:
How long before the fans in Arkansas get tired of what UK has been dealing with; worst home losses in history; longest streak of not winning in the SEC Tournament, most home losses in history, 2-8 post season record; players coming in with LaBron status and sitting on the bench refusing to play; not getting along with the media or fans?
So what Arkansas wins in against us in the regular season. Cal pie is not going to change into something he is not and come tourney time, we will win while he says the SEC doesn't matter.

Leopards do not change their spots. Coach Cal pie is what he is and changing schools will not transform him back to 2012.

disagree. nil and transfer portal has completely changed how teams are built. i could see a new coach coming in and having success right away. i’m optimistic that we will have a good coaching staff to do just that.

I don't agree.

first, depending on who we hire, he can bring in his own guys, and second, assuming it happens quickly, a new coach with some cache can go into the transfer portal and pick up 2, maybe 3 difference makers.

IMO, Cal is purposely slow walking the signing of the contract to hurt the next coach's chances of bringing in the best players available to rebuild our broken down roster.

don’t know if cal’s actually doing that but yes, we need to hire the new coach soon.
