Preseason Questions being answered

We had a lot of questions coming into this season and we're starting to see the veil being lifted as they say.

Linebacker Play
Linebacker depth is thin right now but I feel like guys like Henderson and Ware really showed their talent and improvement tonight. Been a bright spot compared to what we thought. And it will only get better when Hatcher and Flannigan return, and maybe even Walker. I'd say out of 8 quarters they've played solid 6 of them.

Cornerback Play
Same as linebacker, there were alot of questions about the DB's and whether we'd be bringing Tiller out there. Questions on who would step up and could the young guys give us quality minutes. Believe those questions have been answered, and then some! Westry is looking like a 1st round draft pick in 2 more years and JD Harmon is showing out! He has been all over the place these first 2 games. Even Quinn has stepped up and held onto his job, not by default, but by improving.

This is now a position of strength.

Oline
The oline, we all know was terrible last year. I'm shocked Towles made it through the season uninjured. Huge questions on whether these guys had improved enough to go up against SEC Dlines. While still a bit of a work in progress, they have given Towles time to throw and opened up huge holes for our backs. Big George makes mistakes but he's going to be a good one. Yesterday's game is the best I've seen the oline play in quite awhile.

Towles
Finally we come to Patrick Towles, the undisputed leader of the offense and the team. Coach Dawson has calmed Patrick down and is taking advantage of his big arm. Last night we saw what a Towles led offense can do when he is on.

I know everyone and their mother were kinda dogging him after last week but 72% completion rate in a hostile environment should put those to rest. He wasn't asked to throw as much in the 2nd half but his steady leadership helped keep the offense calm and he made throws when he had to. His run to the endzone had to fire up the team.

Kid is giving everything he's got to turning this program around. We are truly lucky to have him; look around the SEC and you see teams that are not playing as well as they could because their QBs are below average.

As you can see our biggest questions are being positively answered. Still room for improvement, which is a great sign of things to come this year and into the future.

The program has never been on such solid ground. And only getting better.
