Say what you want about Skal, but there is your ball game. Our upperclassman provided basically nothing for our Freshman in their first true road game.

Poythress was the issue. It would have been much worse though had Ulis not played. I'll forgive his shooting woes because he's trying to shoot with a wounded wing. Ulis is tough as nails. He wasn't the problem last night.
Agree. As disappointed as I was with Poy's game last night, I was even more upset with the fact he wasnt cheering from the bench after he fouled out.

Yeah it was clear from the shootaround that Ulis was having trouble shooting with his hurt arm. I noticed he did a lot more dribbling with his left hand than usual, too. But he played hurt for 38 minutes and had 9 assists. We we much worse without him.

Poythress will be fine. He had a bad game but so did the whole team. He will be a force this year.

yeah ulis wasnt 100% so it was on our 6th man who is only averaging 20 minutes per game to lead us to victory with a 20 and 10 performance. stupid

This is a joke right? When are people going to give up on the "Poythress will ever be good" campaign?

3+ years and we have seen him be good about 3 times total. Good thing he is getting his master's degree, basketball is certainly not in his future.

Agree on Ulis, he still helped a lot with his 9 assists, but 2/12 is 2/12.

if it was last years team it wouldnt be an issue. but we need superior guard play from our guards. and that means efficiency. you cant have guys shoot that poorly. cant happen. i get it, he was hurt. but he has had a few games like that this season before the injury. more importantly he needs to start making threes.

Ulis needs some post offense to get his shot off. That lack of spacing is hurting him. A lot like Travis Ford from '93 with Mash to the next year w/o him.

Did you see anything on the court to cheer about after he fouled out? I didn't. Make TWO plays in a row and then there's something to cheer about. We never made anything like a run at them.

I hope I am so wrong about this, but I just don't see it. I don't think Poythress' problems are physical, he just doesn't have it in him to show up, every night, and bang. Its not who he is, and it can't be taught. I'm afraid that it may be Skal's problem too.

Poythress could stay at UK until he was 30, and we would still see the same player. People still thinking that the beast switch will magically turn on in this kid should stop torturing themselves. He will have key moments in games where he will do something positive, and add energy to the team, but you won't get it consistently for 30+ minutes a night.
