Poythress practiced

Great news; no, don't need him tonite, but would be good to have him at 80% for Vandy.

Why do you say no need for him tonight??? Willis is out we need Poy tonight or we could lose

Because he's obvioudly not 100% if he can't go full in practice. He's only going to hurt himself and his team if he doesn't have full confidence in his knee.

Alabama is no slouch either. We can't afford to lose tonight with two road games coming up... tough call. Maybe play Poy for ten minutes?

We need to contain Obasahon tonight. That guy is good. Alabama is a typical SEC team, they have 1 player that, at times, is unstoppable. He is great at getting to the rim and finishing.

Our guys can handle Alabama without Poy tonight. There's no reason to risk it if he's not 100%. It'd really suck to put him in and have him tweak it, then not be able to play at all on Saturday.

They just lost at home to Miss St and the game is in Rupp where UK hasn't lost in almost 2 yrs and Cal is 117-4.

Give Poythress 4 more days and start him at Candy.

I tend to agree, but we really have little margin for error. I hate to go into two tough road games with 8 losses.

Maybe put him in if things aren't going well?

We said that about 3-4 teams this year. I doubt we lose also, but can we afford to take the chance? To have 8 losses, with 3 games left and the SECT?

We're fine to make the tournament, but really don't want to land on the 7-8 seed line.

I'm not saying to play Poy 20+ minutes, but we might need him for 10 just to contain the front court and throw them some different looks.

How many of those games were at Rupp? I'll give you a hint, hell the answer, 0. UK does not lose at Rupp under Coach Cal...except on rare rare occasions. 2/4 of those were the NIT team and 1 of the other losses was to a great FL team in 2014.

He might be good enough to give us a couple of minutes, here and there, should the foul triumvirate of Lee, Skal, and Hump, get into too much trouble, or go out. But, if they can keep out of trouble, I think Poy sits till Saturday. I would think that a lot depends on how he feels today, after practicing some, yesterday.

I don't care if they weren't at Rupp. We were all so confident about a plethora of losses this year. Just don't think, at 7 losses, we should be playing around. We have an injured team that was already severely one-sided. There's no reason to think we blow out a surging Alabama. If we do, super, let Poy rest. If we are down 2 points with 8 minutes to go, I'd like to see if he can go in just to stop the bleeding in the almost-sure-to-be hemorrhaging front court.

Nothing wrong with playing Alex spot minutes in both halves to ease him back vs. Bama. Besides, we need some beef up front with Bama and if it keeps Skal off the floor...I'm all for it.

If he's ready, play him. After all, he destroyed them last time and would play very confident coming off another injury.

I agree that this would be a terrible loss with our current record and the schedule coming up. That said, you can't risk it. Poy should sit unless he is 100% which it doesn't sound like he is. If I was the other coach I would send a parade of guys right at Poy and test the knee. That could end badly for him/us.

I think we ask hump to continue banging and rebounding and Lee to pretty please with a cherry on top try not to foul out.

Ap abused vandy the first time, sure their bigs will play beter and I bet the team in general shoots out of their asses...
