MARK STOOPS Q&A:

* Very disappointed that myself and my coaches could not come up with a few more plays to help this team win and reward the great fan support tonight. It's a game of inches, a game that was separated by a few very close plays that could have changed the outcome. Not playing the shoulda, coulda, woulda game, but it's the truth. Two very good football teams that played hard, but we've got to find a way to make critical plays in critical moments.

* On going for it on 4th and 1 early in the game... Probably pressed a bit there.

* The FG miss was right at Raynor's limit. It's never a gimme when it's over 50, but don't regret it. Needed points.

* Encouraged by improvement in the passing game. Worked really hard to get to this point.

* On missed tackles tonight... Team like this puts you in more open space, and their backs are elite. They stress you, and you have to do better than the defense showed tonight.

* Tried to play a little faster and create some of their own tempo tonight. Thought it helped.

* Stoops said he never received an explanation for what the replay officials saw on the review at the end of the first half. Just simply said, "No."

* Defense could not get critical stops tonight, but thought that maybe they played this scheme a little better than they have at times in the past.

* Stoops says neither he nor the staff nor the team need motivation to get back to work tomorrow and ready for Alabama. Disappointed tonight, but not discouraged for the rest of the season.
