* Cats get blown out at home by an average South Carolina team. After the first game, we noted that we didn’t see enough to make any definitive statements. After today’s game, if this is who we are … then things are very, very, concerning for the Cats. Alarm signals are going off all over the place after that mess. I wasn’t expecting this type of collapse by our football team. The total lack of fight and competitive fire was very concerning. This team came out entitled and fat-headed … and then looked shocked after getting smacked around and run down.

* Offensively, that was as bad a performance and as inept as we have witnessed in the entire Stoops tenure. 183 yards of total offense. Our passing game was 6-17 for 44 yards and 2 interceptions. That’s horrific - a complete all systems failure. We were bad everywhere. Fixing this begs a lot of questions that we don’t have time to get into all of that mess. If you can’t score, you can’t win.

* OL … a disaster today. There’s nothing good to say about today. QB, not good. Our running game was ok, but I miss seeing our RB’s falling forward at final contact.

* Defensively, we still can’t stop 3rd and long …. It’s absolutely maddening. … Wheel routes, in the Stoops era, have often been a struggle to defend and it was again today. …. Cats caused some fumbles today, but couldn’t recover them. … Then there was the 4th down play around the 50 yard line with the game still on the line, and we jump offsides. We lack eye discipline on defense in several positions.

* Stoop’s decision to go for it 4th and 1 on his own 30 yard line down 7-0 with 11:00 minutes or so to go in the 2nd quarter … IMO, seemed desperate, was a bad coaching decision giving SC a short field for any easy 3pts in what was at the time still a competitive game. That poor coaching decision seemed to set the tone for a game that was poorly executed by the Cats with all of the mistakes and penalties

* Special teams, our kick return game was not good. Our kicking game did alright. South Carolina’s punter was great, gaining 8-10 yards of field position every time we exchanged punts.

* Up Next: Cats vs. Georgia at home. This game went from a rumored possible location for College Gameday to being on SECN+ … my how the perception(s) of the UK program have fallen in one week.
