* Cats get smoked by a hot-shooting Ole Miss team that jumped out to a 23 pt half time lead, pushed it to 27, and then finished the Cats off making some big shots down the stretch to take away any hope the Cats may have had for a comeback.

* Ole Miss, like Arkansas, lit it up from the 3pt line going 13-30, missed a few the last couple of minutes when the game was over, but +9 over the Cats who went 10-21. Cats were +8 on the glass, but had 8 TOs to just 1 for Ole Miss … the Cats simply don’t force turnovers which is why every offensive trip for the Cats is important.

* Williams was really good for the Cats tonight … a rare triple double in a loss. He has been good the last few games. He has been winning his position. Robinson and Oweh put some points on the scoreboard … but are being asked to handle the ball a lot, and neither is an effective passer. Brea and Almonor are primarily spot up shooters … they really miss having a PG who can create. We are about 7 deep, that’s not going to get it done.

* Defensively, it’s no secret that the Cats lack of athleticism is a problem. If we pressure the ball, other teams drive by us, if we defend the paint, they are making 3’s. It’s not a good situation. The Cats lack of depth and athleticism is a roster issue for CMP moving forward and into the next year that must be fixed. We don’t have an impactful bench currently.

* Up Next: Cats take on South Carolina in Rupp on Saturday. Cats need to protect their home court, and it will be another physical battle against the Gamecocks. There are no easy games for the Cats. Cats desperate to get a win having now lost 4 of their last 5 games …
