* Massive win for the Cats on the road over #6 Ole Miss. It was a wild last 2-3 minutes of the game where some crazy things happened that could have went the way for either team … but the Cats pull out the massive win. That game could have went either way, but thought the Cats deserved that one … they outplayed Ole Miss today. Ole Miss has a favorable schedule moving forward, so losing this one has to hurt big.

* Defensively, the Cats played really well. We gave up two inexplicable 4th down plays, one for a TD and the other to get in FG range … but, other than those two huge plays by Ole Miss, the defense did the job against a great Ole Miss offense. Held Ole Miss to 300+ yards less total offense than their average. After giving up a 4th and 7 TD, the Cats defense shut out Ole Miss from there on.

* Offensively, the Cats executed the game plan, burned a lot of clock (something like 40 minutes) and kept the ball away from Ole Miss. It wasn’t pretty, but the running game was physical and the passing game made some big plays to Key and others … none bigger than the 4th down (inside our own 20) pass and catch to Brown that led to the go-ahead TD. We ran the QB a bunch today … and I think Wimsatt ran it every time he was in the game.

* Our FG kicker is an All-American. We should not take for granted how good he has been. It cost Ole Miss. Our punt return and punting game needs a lot of help … that facet is not getting it done and in close games can cost you the game.

* Too many big plays to talk about in detail. The Ole Miss fumble that was originally called a catch. The Wimsatt fumble that bounced into our hands for the TD. The three 4th down plays, 1 by the Cats, 2 by Ole Miss. The huge penalties on both teams. The missed FG at the end.

* Up Next: It’s the bye week. The Cats move to 3-2 on a potentially season changing win and get some momentum before taking on a much improved Vandy team at home. Must get it done at home. There are no easy games in the SEC. Need to get healthy. Make it happen one day at a time, one play at a time.
