* Very disappointing loss by the Cats tonight. The stadium was ready to for a big time football atmosphere tonight ... and just couldn't get over the hump. You simply have to play better football than that at home on the big stage of the SEC if you want to take that next step forward as a football program. Get beat by a very average Florida football team that gains 250 yards and scores 14 points.
* I am still looking for who those big play players are going to be on this football team - players both want to and that actually make plays to win football games. Who wants to step up and lead the team and put the team on their shoulder and will the team to wins.
* Defense was good enough to win tonight. Special teams were good enough to win tonight. Offense was bad enough to get beat by anybody tonight .... yet we still had our chances to win. Have to make plays.
* CJ Johnson played a heck of a football game. Johnson, Lewis, Meant and Huguenin ...all way ahead of Elam who has a long ways to go. Hatcher will help in time.
* As well as the defense did tonight, Kentucky never has and still can't defend a scrambling QB. Frustrating to watch him scramble for a TD on 4th and goal, broke a sack in the 2nd quarter to convert a 3rd and 8 ultimately leading to a TD, broke an obvious sack by Henderson at the end of the game and almost converted a late 3rd down conversion toward the end of the game.
* Cats defense had their hands on or around about 3 interception possibilities .. got the big one in the end zone.
* I have no idea what the UK defender did wrong after the sack of the Florida QB on the 1 foot line.
* Offensively, our OT's got abused and our WR's ran predictable routes. We desperately needed the slant pattern in our offense tonight ... it was there all night if we had just went to it ... and sometimes WR's have to break their route to help the QB. Baker dropped a pass to start each of the last two games, this time a TD pass. Boom is really good. Towles is unfortunately a little slow at times on the mental side of things.
* The score 14-6, the Cats run 7 plays from the Gator 5 yard line or inside of that ... and come away with a FG. There was one critical 2nd down and goal from the 2 and the Gators had 9 players in the box and we try to run up the gut and lose 3 yards. You have to check out of that play.
* The clock management the final 3:30 of the game was poor. With three timeouts we let 30+ seconds burn off the clock before Florida punts and then allow another 30 seconds burn after an ill-timed running play ... all of which collectively created panic among our players eventually leading to the Towles sack ... ballgame.
* Up Next: Cats vs. Missouri on Saturday night in Commonwealth. The Cats really, really, need to win this game ... and it's winnable.
