* Cats get crushed at home by Auburn. Cats didn’t show up to play to start the game … and while I didn’t think we would win, you have to show up to start the game. The Cats weren’t anywhere close to being up for the challenge today against a superior Auburn team.

* If Auburn goes 12-26 from the 3pt line, they are going to win. Kelly 9-14 from 3pt line, a couple banked in. Auburn a stunning +24 from the 3pt line. Cats with 18 TOs leading to 21 Auburn points. Auburn with only 8 TOs. Add in missed shots at the rim and missed FTs … Ballgame.

* Cats were ineffective on the offensive end. Auburn defense took away the Cats 3pt game, and forced the Cats to go inside, but the Cats are not good finishers around the rim and missed numerous shots at the rim. Add to that an embarrassing number of turnovers primarily on lazy and bad passes. Cats aren’t going to win playing like that on the offensive end.

* The first 5 minutes of the game was a disaster with numerous TOs leading to Auburn points giving Auburn an 13 pt lead, and Auburn making 3’s, Kelly was ridiculous all day. Cats tried to fight back, but a disastrous last 2 minutes of the 1st half effectively ended the game, initiated by a huge momentum call against Butler, that busted the game wide open at the half.. Cats end of half stats continues to be a storyline this year. Cats went 7+ minutes to end the 1st half and the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half without making a FG. That’s a ridiculous 11+ minute stretch without making a FG..

* Our inability to get and ones …is frustrating.

* Cats defense continues to be a problem.

* I don’t know what the answer is, but the lazy passes and unforced TOs will be the end of us this year. It seems mostly just lack of focus mentally.

* Williams showed up with 13 and 14, but 6 TOs … won his battle in the paint. Cats +15 on the glass. Butler, easily our best if not only PG, had 5 TOs, and was forced to go left by Auburn most of the game and he missed some layups with his left hand. Carr, played okay, still misses too many shots at the rim.. Brea showed up in the 2nd half, but was a no show the 1st half. Oweh was a no show the whole game. The bench was a no show. Not having Robinson makes the Cats that much easier to defend.

* To top off the day, somebody pulled the plug on the ABC broadcast (technical difficulties they said). One way to look at that is perhaps it spared some of us from having to watch a good bit of the 2nd half.

* Up Next: Have to move past this mess today. Cats play LSU on Tuesday night in what I view as a must win game. LSU will be the more athletic team, but the Cats have to be the better team. This will not be an easy game.
