Pope's Transfer Portal

Sounds like Jaxson Robinson could be our first get.
He better go and get the best of the best.
He needs a really good physical guard that can score off the dribble and shoot. Also guard the ball! On ball defense needs a major upgrade.
Ms.st. kid forget his name. Or meechi Johnson.
Guys that are strong with the ball and can take there guy and beat them!

So many coaches & now recruiters on this board that UK might not lose a game next year.
You got to love it. Last night they were losing their minds over the Pope hire and today we are winning the SEC and the national title. It's really unbelievable. Maybe everyone should pump the brakes and see what kind of team Pope puts together.

He's gotta be able to do more with him than Cal
Just don't think he was that good of a player. Just another overrated 5*. Could be wrong on him but I would rather have someone with a lot of beef on him. Much like the center that UConn has, big white kid, sorry i can't remember his name.

Mason Gillis might be a fine role player off the bench. The other guy not seeing it in him. Has their been anymore buzz on Jaxson Robinson front this weekend?

Here's 2 targets to IMMEDIATELY pursue that can help you win right away, and guess what, they're both from the same school
Mason Gillis and Ethan Morton, both from Purdue

Mason Gillis: Big10 6th man of the year, shot 46% from 3, 21 mins per game, 4 rebs per game. Winning culture, 4 years of experience in the Big10, knows how to guard and rebound, shoots the ball well - definitely fits Pope's style. He's from New Castle, IN - so relatively local

Ethan Morton: 4-years experience at Purdue, 6'7 guard that only got 10 mins per game this year, but had 25 per game last season. Not a great scorer, but defends his ass off, rebounds the ball, experience in a winning culture, several intangibles, has ability to shoot it better than his 27% so far, but would be a good screener/passer/cutter in Pope's offense
Gillis is a good player, no clue about Morton.

Well, Cal is a moron. They wouldn't be at any other program in america. Cal was taking this program for players feelings.
Well that is a true statement.
Cal did say something like he didn’t want to hurt some players feelings.

Not his exact words I was just paraphrasing.

We’ve all seen what 2 stars well coached ( Oakland) can do to a poorly Coached team loaded with 5’s. We have to stop worrying so much about the stars and more about chemistry. This is something that’s going to take time with BBN.

This is not a dribble drive offense. He needs shooters in this offense where there is constant movement and screening. There were only 2 five star players in the championship game. Remember Reed was a 4 star player. There's plenty of 4 star and even 3 star players that can be very effective. BYU beat Kansas and Baylor and Iowa State and NC State last year without one 5 star player.

We need to find two really good players, I mean the type of guys that would start at any school in the country. And bring them off the bench. Start two guys in front of them that suck. Because it really doesn’t matter.
Cal is gone, can we stop with the trite repetitions of the same 5 or 6 complaints in every thread even where they're not relevant?

Despite the fact that Cal's most recent Kentucky team choked again in the postseason, it was a better team than any since our Karl Anthony Towns team. Did we learn anything this season? I say yes. We learned that speed is indispensable. At the team's best, the speed of Robert Dillingham, Antonio Reeves, and Justin Edwards was a difference maker. Traditionally, Kentucky basketball at its best has thrived off transition scoring. I know Pope will try to recruit shooting because shooting fits his offense. That is good. But for his teams to play defense and win games in the SEC, Pope will need speed more than he has ever needed speed before in his coaching career. So speed and shooting need to come from the portal.

It's hard to pump the brakes for this fan base. We are a very fast paste type of fan. We like to get in there and speculate quickly, assume greatly, and dream big.

Maybe, but need a big who can handle and pass for this system. And Khalifa is the one who is already basically committed.
That’s why I’m hoping they go after the guy from Drexel Williams, or there is a reality where z comes back(1 percent chance that happens). But waterman is a really good shooter and decent at the other stuff

I get it, but the guy was an idiot. and people were and still are making excuses for him. Screw him.
Cal is no idiot. Far from it. He has had a good career and has gotten rich. But his priorities do not match up with our basketball program anymore. This is no mystery. It is right out there in the open.

I believe Cal was ground down and eventually overwhelmed mentally by the intensity of expectations at Kentucky that he could no longer satisfy. The game changed in the last 15 years. When Cal could no longer win the most important games, he put emphasis on bragging about his NBA players because that was something he could still brag about. That shaped his recruiting pitch. "I want to coach you because I can get you into the NBA draft and make you rich fast." It became his sell. To a certain point, it worked. But Cal could not keep up with championship expectations at Kentucky anymore, and it took its toll on his mind. This was visible right out there in public. No secret.

I expect Cal will have a brief resurgence of his competitive fire at Arkansas. He has something to prove now. For a time, he will do better there. But at his age, he will flame out fast. He is someone else's problem now. Our fans got what they wanted. Let's move forward.

My early personal wish list for the portal. Javon small,
Jalen Blackmon
Darlinstar Dubar
Cade Tyson,
Stojakovic
Amari Williams
Mason Gillis

I just don’t get how he’s going to really have a resurgence at Arkansas. Why didn’t missing the tournament and losing to St Peters light a fire under him here? If it took being forced out to Arkansas to light his fire he really was just stealing money here.

Here's a guy I would love to get. Pope is aware of him from Big 12. The only question is can he shoot well enough to be a good fit, but he is a winner. Arizona has contacted him, but he isn't committed that I am aware of.

Peavy just committed to GTown.

Cade Tyson has an OV set up with Tennessee.

Want nothing to do with Ethan Morton from Purdue. When a NC participant improved because they cut his minutes and were using him in Tournament to give fouls-that literally was his role-the University of Kentucky doesn't need to venture to that.
