Throwin’ in the towel already?
No one thinks we are winning it all. The other poster is a realist. Live on fantasy island if you must.
Throwin’ in the towel already?
Yeah and Forrest Gump ran across America several times. Neither has anything to do with this set of UK players. Pope knows his teams limits. If he says Brea cannot play 38 minutes I trust him over ourselves armchair coaching.Heck I think Kemba Walker played 40 mins for like 10-12 games straight from the Big East tournament all the way til the final game of the NCAA tournament lol.
Maybe the injuries are playing on his mindWe had guys do it under nearly every coach here, including Cal.
What's the issue all of a sudden?
No. Just being realistic. Btw I’ve never thought we’d be winning a title in year one. Playing with depth is the only way to build quality depth going forwardThrowin’ in the towel already?
There is 0 comparison between men and women's game, none. Guys are much bigger, 20xs stronger, quicker and much more physical. It is a FANTASY that women compare to men at this level. I remember about 3 or 4 years ago the US women's soccer team lost to a Texas boys high school team.So the women’s team basically plays only 6 but the guys can’t? Interesting.
I think our conditioning is fine. Your and my 'opinion' really doesn't matter does it? Maybe your conditioning isn't fine and this is transference or something. Who gives a f*.Sounds like our conditioning isn’t up to par
To be completely honest, Perry/Noah/Chandler aren’t winning you a title now or four yrs from now. That argument is kinda busted.I agree with Pope. You aren’t cutting down the nets, expanding the rotation gets the youngsters more reps now and builds for next year. Win/win in my mind
Why waste your time following them if you already know the outcome? Doesn’t make sense. No one thinks we are winning it all. The other poster is a realist. Live on fantasy island if you must.
He’s been put in this situation. Cal chose it. Big difference. So, we used to bitch about Cal playing his starters 36 mpg, having no depth, riding the starters so hard they get hurt and we only have seven healthy guys available any given night by Valentine's Day.
Now, we are mad Pope uses a longer bench to play 8-10 guys in an effort to keep starters fresh.
Alright then.
Too early to know that…best way to find out is….drum roll please…widen the lineup. To be completely honest, Perry/Noah/Chandler aren’t winning you a title now or four yrs from now. That argument is kinda busted.
Why is it so freaking hard for all of you guys that make this statement to realize the bench isn’t what it was! Goodness. Wake up. It would be fine to play the bench longer runs if it consisted of Kriisa, Brea, Almonor, and Garrsion. But it doesn’t. It includes a few dudes that are seriously struggling to compete at this level currently. What’s the answer? Play those dudes that can’t hang? Or shorten the rotation? Nobody would be saying this if Kriisa and Robinson were healthy.Good for pope, agree totally. For years people complained about Cal's tighter rotations and now the same people are complaining about the a different tactic. Will you guys please make up your mind?
You haven’t seen enough evidence to know? Might wanna yank your head out. Hell, have someone that subscribes to the analytics give you the numbers when those dudes are on the floor. It won’t be pretty.Too early to know that…best way to find out is….drum roll please…widen the lineup.
You gonna start beta testing stuff with two regular season games left? Interesting approach.Too early to know that…best way to find out is….drum roll please…widen the lineup.
So your strategy is that we're better off running our starters into the ground even though the last 5 minutes they may be tanked? We should do it because we can't rely on our bench? There are negatives both ways. Does your boy Bruce do that? I thought he had an expansive bench this year. Why is it so freaking hard for all of you guys that make this statement to realize the bench isn’t what it was! Goodness. Wake up. You rarely have anything positive to say about anything so any approach that you disagree with might not be the wrong choiceYou gonna start beta testing stuff with two regular season games left? Interesting approach.
Gotta develop them. I don’t think it’s been all bad. We can certainly see their weaknesses but there are also bright spots. So have I seen enough to know? No.You haven’t seen enough evidence to know? Might wanna yank your head out. Hell, have someone that subscribes to the analytics give you the numbers when those dudes are on the floor. It won’t be pretty.
People say they want Pitino or Pearl ball then also demand you play 5 guys. I agree some people just like to be angrySo, we used to bitch about Cal playing his starters 36 mpg, having no depth, riding the starters so hard they get hurt and we only have seven healthy guys available any given night by Valentine's Day.

It’s obvious you’re not smart enough to understand my comment.Yeah and Forrest Gump ran across America several times. Neither has anything to do with this set of UK players. Pope knows his teams limits. If he says Brea cannot play 38 minutes I trust him over ourselves armchair coaching.
I remember in 97 against Minnesota Mercer played a bunch of minutes. On Monday morning at Final Four I ran in to Pope. I asked him about the team and what he thought about the game tonight against Arizona. His first statement was about Mercer, said he was not in the best of shape and had not recovered from Saturday nights game. Pope said the guy for Arizona Miles Simon was gonna score easy on him. Said other players would have to step up. He knows his stuff. Always has.
I'm 100% positive you wouldnt have been able to spot Sears or Broome or many players of those 2 teams as national championship caliber players when they were transferring. It’s obvious you’re not smart enough to understand my comment.
If you wanna win big, having players who are willing to sacrifice is a must. And guess what? I’m not sure we have many this year that fit into that category. That’s gonna hurt your little feelings but it’s the truth. My message to Pope would be to recruit national championship type players like Walker.
What’s your goal for UK from here on out, smart ass? You good just with tournament appearances?
Pope is as stubborn and idiotic about lineups as Cal was.
Brea looked pretty damn good playing that many minutes.
Huh? Not sure what you’re trying to say but if you’re implying that I wouldn’t have noticed the upside of a guy like Broome who averaged 13 and 9 as a freshman, then I’m 100% you’re wrong.I'm 100% positive you wouldnt have been able to spot Sears or Broome or many players of those 2 teams as national championship caliber players when they were transferring.
Right or wrong, he doesn't see it your way.
I just don't understand why Pope is being this way about lineups.
Amari may not can play that long but Brea can certainly play 30+ minutes.
Nobody played huge mins on 96 team.We had guys do it under nearly every coach here, including Cal.
What's the issue all of a sudden?
No, they'll need 5 to field a lineup. To be completely honest, Perry/Noah/Chandler aren’t winning you a title now or four yrs from now. That argument is kinda busted.
So what they do as freshmen determines their career? You haven’t seen enough evidence to know? Might wanna yank your head out. Hell, have someone that subscribes to the analytics give you the numbers when those dudes are on the floor. It won’t be pretty.
Wait, not only did you run into Pope somewhere in Indianapolis, where the team was surely sequestered from the outside, but you had a conversation with MP, probably, what, when he was going to the ice machine? And he told you Mercer was toast and Miles and Simon were going to score easily on him? Man, I don't buy any of this.Yeah and Forrest Gump ran across America several times. Neither has anything to do with this set of UK players. Pope knows his teams limits. If he says Brea cannot play 38 minutes I trust him over ourselves armchair coaching.

It is comical how many "FANS" talk out of both sides of their mouth.
Not apples to apples. Mens game much more physicalSo the women’s team basically plays only 6 but the guys can’t? Interesting.
I don't recall anyone hating on Cal for playing tighter lineups. Do you have an example?Good for pope, agree totally. For years people complained about Cal's tighter rotations and now the same people are complaining about the a different tactic. Will you guys please make up your mind?
IF you even remotely understood our previous coach it was generally the PG who played majority of those minutes.. Hmmm I wonder why? Oh I know maybe because he wanted him to show everything he could for NBA and he promised he would play the majority of the minutes. YOU CANNOT ever use Cal as a reason to do things. He based ALL of this decisions on the Pro road for these kids becuase he promised them they would play and it cost him at least one championship if not more.Buddy, you want to know go do your own homework. I'm not digging through nearly 70 years of games. I am almost positive that Cal at a LEAST one dude play 39 minutes here once.
The point is these are sesaoned vets. There should be NO issue playing 31 minutes when needed.
How in the ever loving goodness gracious just you jump to this conclusion. SMHSounds like our conditioning isn’t up to par, maybe we should look into that this off season along with the fact of the injuries we’ve had all season long. I’ve said for a month that we look tired and pretty much out of shape, but the sad part is there’s tv timeouts and coaches timeouts and 100 reviews a game that’s basically more time outs…..so why are we so tired and why can’t guys play 30-35 mins/game then?
