Pope will have zoom meeting with Riley

WCC is a multiple mid lewue and SFU was near a tournament

This is a good player, can defend, can rebound, has athleticism, has size, good player for us.
But he is a carbon copy in profile of Williams and we don’t need any more role players. We need a starting SG/SF that has scoring pop and elite shooting.

How is he different from Williams?

This type of player is definitely the more, the better. Besides, compared to Williams, Riley has better handles and offensive skills, his touch is pretty smooth. I think Riley has the potential to develop into a solid ball-handler, which Williams might not be able to achieve (Williams feels a bit stiff with his ball-handling, though he does have better size).

32% from 3. But 61.2% from 2.
And most FR improve their 3% as Soph (except the PG we just added)

I’d be ok with this guy if not in top 9-10 guys

Makes me think if Yates is really a possibility or what with this. I know we need a backup option but interesting nonetheless. Maybe they prefer this guy.
I would be satisfied with either yates or this guy

If we land yates, we should be better than this season

Yates is built for sec. 220 pounds guard that can shoot? It is ridiculous. If he makes some progress in his year 2, he will be nba player.

If we land riley, I expect riley to be solid starter in year 3, but he is likely to not be that powerful in year 2

On thing I’ve noticed is Pope is prioritizing size on the perimeter. Also guys with multiple years that can grow in the scheme
We definitely needed to get longer and more athletic on the perimeter. Lowe is longer and quicker than Butler although he isn't a defensive specialist like Butler. But he's definitely an athletic upgrade. And Williams is longer, quicker and stronger than Almonor.

Have no idea our chances here. Feels like pursuing this guy is following the roster construction of Alabama and Auburn this year. Load up on absurd depth of tall wings.

I don’t know enough about this kid’s other options to know whether being a bench contributor here with a nice payday would be the best option for him or not.

You seem enamored with the hogs, and back-handing fans here.
No, I am just capable of seeing the effectiveness of a player who can't shoot worth a darn but brought value to his team. I see no reason why other guards can't do the same thing including the one Pope signed today. You seem to be ok with suspect fans backhanding our coach, I am not.

For those saying it would be too many guards/wings, and guys would be unhappy, think about this: this guy hits the market this year with maybe a lower price tag. Next year if things don't work out to his liking, he could enter the portal again and command more money just by having that UK brand label, and still have 2 years left. Not a big risk for a guy like that to try a place like UK for a year compared to a senior in that same spot.
