Pope needs to teach these guys how to sell a foul

SEC refs constantly fall for BS fouls when the other team’s players constantly throw their heads back or throw their arms up to sell a foul. We never do this. Why? I’m not saying teach them to flop but our guys constantly get mugged and many times no foul is called. We need to sell them better.
I agree they fall for it everytime.

Coaches should not have to give acting classes, these refs need to be trained better or make them watch game film of every game they call and point out their mistakes, they get paid enough, we deserve better.

You’re right but the way the games are being called we are losing probably 10-20 points a game due to these bad calls and the other teams flopping and the refs almost always falling for it. I’m not saying I like it but it is a strategy other teams are using that we are not. The Georgia game really stands out to me with all their flopping and that was probably the difference in the game. They got a bunch of BS calls that gave them at least ten points at the stripe.

Our problems are not referee problems.

On defense we get behind and reach.

On offense we shy from contact. We don’t create contact. We have no post player. We have one driver.

It’s obvious from watching the games that the book on UK is that we are soft.

Like it or not the officials are human and buy into the same narrative.

We might not be as soft as our reputation?

But we are in no way a physical team.

The SEC is nothing if not a physical conference.

Both (our defense, and the refs) are problems.
Oweh doesn't shy from contact at all. He goes in almost with the reckless abandon that Theiro did/does. He just rarely gets fouls called, it's like the refs look at him and think "he can take it" and don't blow the whistle.
I would say the soft ones are Brea, Robinson, sometimes Williams and Carr and Garrison. Not Butler or Oweh.

I hate coming out of every game it seems feeling like the referees raped us AGAIN. I don’t want to feel like a sore loser, but damn, I know what I watch. I’ve been watching basketball semi-intelligently for the better part of 50 years. We seem to never get a fair whistle anymore. I try hard to not look at it like that when I’m watching, but you can’t not see it. It’s crazy. Hell, that one time last night, the Oklahoma dude just lost it out of bounds and they still gave them the ball back.

Oweh was fouled on that one three point shot and didn't get the call. Maybe if he goes down, he does.

Almanor has been falling down a lot when guys land in his space. All year that was a foul until we started doing it.

If referees keep falling for the theatrics stupid should be added to the description. If I was a ref I would never give them a call. Giving them the call just means they are reacting and not calling something they saw.

Sadly, they'd make an example of Kentucky and we'd get whistled for it the second they start to see any sort of pattern.

I still think if we want to fix some of the officiating, you have to put the students behind the benches. Let the rowdy and loud fans ride the officials like they do in Cameron and AFH, which often causes the officials to cave towards the home team. It could be the difference between 2-3 calls every home game and thats enough to save us a win or two every year. It's probably the only way to fix some of this on a realistic level.. because throwing rocks at Shows' head is apparently frowned upon.

I read it. Just because you wrote that you aren't saying for them to flop doesn't mean that you're actually not. Faking or over acting to get a foul called is flopping.
When you are fouled like Oweh and Williams are and the refs consistently swallow their whistle, you get their attention by flailing your arms, snapping your head back or make a grunting noise. That is not flopping if you are legitimately fouled.
