Pope currently at G League Elite Camp

This is from the scrimmage yesterday. Chaz has a nice runner around the 38:00 minute mark. They also talk a little about him. He is #36 in black. Ugo is also in this game as well. Enjoy!
Ugo is not even close to elite, he has one skill and may be the worst rebounding big man I’ve ever seen.
Hopefully pope locks up one of em. Would like for it to be laneir
Agreed! He goes in all or nothing on the block. A lot of times that risky approach puts him in a horrible position to even be able to get the rebound. Not sure if he wasn't coached or if he's just out there doing his own thing. Regardless, I want the kid to find success and hope he finds that while developing in college.
I just am enjoying this so much. Between Pope and is assistants, we are gonna get some great players that love playing in his kind of system. Every gym they go to like this one, the bricks just keep building the castle.

Me too! I like to think there's a legit chance with him too if Pope is there. Is Barnes there? I wonder if he feels Chaz is a UT lock.

According to reports (national guys, don’t remember who), Lanier has been less than overwhelming.
It's just two games for me it would be hard to tell much from glorified scrimmages.
I would think this would help our chances. Lanier may be more of a system player and if Pope’s system is geared more like the previous system he was in it could be a huge benefit.
I trust Pope and staff's eye for talent but of the 4 guys we'd hope to get in that scoring wing spot (Robinson, Wells, Poplar, Lanier) I'd have Lanier 4th
Robinson is 1 for me then Wells. Poplar and Lanier a notch below them
Lanier is pretty good just cuz he's not a selfish ball hog like most these people are trying to get an invite to the combine. In a good system he'll be a pretty good player. Id say so, as are the other guys were after.
Little separation in that group they are all extremely close. Wells is probably the 1st just because of what he can become, but Lanier, poplar, & Robinson there is littler separation if any
Poplar to me is the same thing as Kellen Grady. He is either going to be extremely agressive or barley shoot it some games
I've thought about this in relation to Garrison. From the highlights I've seen, it seems he has more offensive skills.
It would be hard not to honestly. Ugo couldn’t even lay a ball up. If he didn’t have a dunk he couldn’t score. I think I watched him make maybe 3 jump hooks his entire career here. The sad thing is he has thought he was a pro since the minute he stepped foot at UK and so did his handlers. Just crazy to me.
I watched both days. Lanier is going home. Poplar was underwhelming yesterday but picked it up tonight and wound up leading his team in scoring. Might have been enough to move on to the Draft Combine.
Would love to have any of them. for me
1) Wells ....highest ceiling tallest could play some small ball 4 if we can't find someone else
2) Robinson ..good length good shooter and Familiar with Pope's system
3 Tie) Wooga... super streaky but has major conference experience
3 Tie) Lanier... Still a bit unknown with only one good season at low level competition. Probably the best of the four of the bounce.
Hard to judge Lanier from this. Some guys are better when playing a structured game scenario with team concepts/players playing roles vs an “everybody try to get your own and showcase” vibe like the Global Elite/Jordan Brand Classic/AAU vibes.
Need to land either Lanier or Wooga
He might not have a choice. He can kill in workouts and still not get drafted
But has he been more than underwhelming?
We have to account for the “system”, if you want to call it that, Grady played in. Who knows if Grady would have been that way in Popes system.
In these games pretty much everyone is trying to impress and benefit themselves. I'm not discouraged at all regarding the lack of scoring from Lanier. We'll see if pope backs off him after seeing him in person. I hope pope got his wife a nice mother's day present since he was away most of the day. Gotta stay away from wifey doghouse.
If he is going to Chicago to watch him then definitely isn’t backing off. He is there to try and lock down the recruitment
Lanier shot the ball 3 times last game. Wouldn't put much stock in these games.
True but he definitely didn't show that his game is on another level from what we already have
