Congrats to CJ Conrad.

This reward is given to a graduating senior who makes a difference on the field, in the classroom and the community.

Checking out some games it shows clips of CJ talking to the young guys playing in Orlando this week.

Other nominees were:
Jordan Austin USC
Kenneth Brinson Army
Joe Dineen JR Kansas
Ben Humphrey’s Duke

Another UK player that isn't just an outstanding football player but an outstanding person also.

Congrats to CJ; class guy and certainly deserving.

FWIW, years ago, I tried to get Pop Warner Football started in Kentucky (Jefferson Co.). Wouldn't fly with most "established" youth football programs because some kids were simply "too big" to play. Pop Warner Football has strict age and weight limits for each division which accommodate over 90% of kids 15 and under. But the trick is a league may have to sponsor as many as 7 different age/weight teams to hit that 90% plus number. Just not enough youth football interest in Kentucky for organizations to sponsor that many teams.

So they follow the long established parochial school standard of simply placing a weight limit on ball carriers and "X-ing" the helmet of any players exceeding that weight. So it is safe for "big" guys to tackle "little" guys but unsafe for big guys to run over little guys. I don't know how this rationale got started but the laws of physics disagree. [winking]

Peace
